Okay, let me ask you guys this.
If I'm looking for a 2020 Tacoma TRD OR 4X4 4dr silver under 100,000 miles.
What would be a reasonable price?

Of course I could ask hive mind google this, but what do tacoma owners put the price at?

Id be willing to save $5000 over the next 6 to 8 months to help with a down payment for THE truck tbh

That is such a tough and individually personal question to each and every one of us... What that specific year range, make and model may be worth to me, isn't worth the same in you're eye or mostly anyone else's mind. If you could find that exact and specific truck, at let's say 78,000 miles and their asking 21k with powertrain warranty coverage up until 100,000 that wouldn't seem like such a bad deal to me. But that is dependent upon location within the US, frame condition as well as maintenance records vs a PPI or if you know what you're really doing under the hood, a very thorough inspection myself. With whatever trade in wise, credit history and down payment and how well you can really haggle, ya may be about to come out ahead. But these trucks are sought after, most dealerships know that if you're on the hook and won't play ball with them, they'll still make the sale within a certain timeframe and still come out ahead.

I personally have not seen the truck i just described for under 32000. If it is, usually there is something off about it. Accidents in its history. Fleet use, reported stolen and recovered, owned in the northeast, etc.

For a southern truck like I described, here in Alabama, its a $32-34,000 truck. Ar least.

4x4s have a great resale value, i know. I bought my 2002 trd off road 4x4 ex cab in 2019 for $9000 from a guy right here on tacoma world. I just sold it December for the same amount.

So believe me I get it. But finding one for a price that is 'reasonable' is difficult.
I would say $30,000 with a good down payment is reasonable for the truck I want.
But the market is just full of people overpaying left and right.
So people like me have to save and save, and wait and wait for the 'right one'.

But I guess that what I am going to do.

What’s the status of your 1st gen in your profile? I’d be pretty happy to have one of those in good shape.

I think a dealership selling a truck by the telling you the monthly payment is taking advantage of math. or lack of math.

$425 per month? how many months? I had a calculator that I programmed to do the accounting math. in this case. you want F given A. (I think). a dealer told me $x amount per month - GREAT DEAL!. I did the math and it was $50 over the sticker price. hahahha...I got up and left.

FWIW, I think it's too high. For $6k more I got a Pro with 20k less miles, perfect condition, two years newer and perfect Carfax.

If it were 4x4, then it's a decent price, but even if you don't need it, seems like you could be paying less.

When I was looking, I had the Cars.com app - which, even if you aren't buying a car from any of those dealers, gives you a good idea of what they're going for.

Why did you sell it, how many miles did it had? You should have kept it. Even hardly use 4wd, run it 4wd, once a month to make sure it works. Alabama have places to go offroad. You may need 4wd one day.
$28k, for 2wd, with 90,000 miles, I would pass. The price is too high for only 2wd.

should be said that a 2wd with a locking rear diff like in this truck you can actually get suprisingly far offroad.
