I'm considering buying a 2018 3.5 V-6 with 168k miles. Other than the mileage the vehicle is immaculate and has complete service records from a Toyota dealer. The truck was a lease vehicle for 1 year and was owned by the same owner until it was traded in in TX this year for a new vehicle. The sale price is important but not the most relevant factor. Assuming the price is fair, would anyone be concerned by the mileage. There is no evidence in the exhaust system of any engine defect. What sayest thou?

I would stay far away from the 3rd gen v6, especially the early years like that.

    Others will probably disagree tho.

I have a 3rd gen ‘17 running strong with 140k and no problems. 2nd gen is the best gen though without a doubt. I miss my ‘15

Keep looking. I know Tacos are supposed run for a zillion miles but they have problems just like any other vehicle. 168000 miles is a lot. If you put the 168000 miles on it that’s different than other people putting the mileage on it. Doesn’t matter what brand of vehicle, mileage is the killer of vehicles and their parts. Keep looking

If the price is right, it should be fine.

If the timing cover was going to leak, it should have already leaked.
The fuel pump should have already been replaced. (Recall)
If the valve guides and seat were bad, you'd know by now.

My point is, all the big stuff should have happened by now if it were going to happen.
There are 3.5 engines out there with over 300K.
Maintenance is KEY. If done as it should have been, I would not be afraid of that truck.

So, the question is: What is the price?
