Should I buy this ‘03 double cab Tacoma?

    it is 15,000

    upload_2025-5-5_8-28-8.jpg
    Here is the description,
Selling my 2003 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Limited with 193,000 miles (and counting, as it's my daily driver). This 4x4 comes with the factory rear locker, a 3-inch lift, 33" tires, and a K&N intake. It runs and drives great, and the interior is in excellent condition.

Please note it has a reconstructed title due to a minor accident — the driver-side fender and knuckle were professionally replaced, and it has passed the Washington State Patrol inspection. Title is in hand.

None, looked at it yesterday and had bits and spots here and there, but just surface, nothing more than that. Been kept in Washington and Oregon its whole life.

Wow, from that picture she's a beauty. Hopefully some members with way more knowledge than me will chime in with specific "what to look for" suggestions. Good luck.

I have never heard of a reconstructed title (rebuilt title?), so I searched and according to Carfax, a rebuilt title is the result of a total loss.

Well the rebuilt title thing is concerning based on what @Alex the Great said.

Other than that, it looks and sounds like a great deal.

Look at the frame closely at the front where the control arms connect. Look for anything bent or funky repairs

Still too much money for the year, mileage and damaged title

I second this, just not worth the trouble when there are other options out there (even if you have to wait a bit)

Yeah, too much for a salvage

Can’t (generally) fully insure them, so do you want to lose 15k if you have an accident and you’re at fault?

branded title is the biggest issue for me, for the insurance reasons already posted. it can be a hassle, and i don't feel the implied price discount contrasted to a non-branded title is worth the hassle overall. at least in the $10k+ range. a branded title vehicle at $6k or less is a different story, and far easier to scrap when finished with them, but they're hard to sell, hard to insure, and generally just a hassle all around.

but i wouldn't dump any money into a salvage title vehicle that i wouldn't be willing to lose in 10 minutes in vegas. make your own financial determination of where that line is for you.
