    From what I have seen lately, the Mexican drug cartels have as much fire-power as the Afghanis or Iraqis. The main difference is that they don't want to provoke confrontation. Does not mean that they would not put up a fight if caught in the open.

    Make sure to be careful with displaying the banner. I don't know how much truth there is to it, but our command has always told us to warn our families to be wary when flying the stars. Some sick people out there like to pray on military families with scams, and things like the banners and yellow ribbons are indications of such. Since people displaying it, usually have their family members deployed, it's a little easier to pull a scam before you talk to the service member and they can tell you that information is wrong...
