Should I get this lift kit

So I know there are about 1,000 threads here talking about lifts and kits. I think after researching and looking all over the place I finally decided on this.

    https://www.rogue-offroad.com/product-p/tac1.95kit.htm

It’s Bilstein 5100 with OME springs and ICON Add-A-Leaf Pack.

I am looking to gain a 2.5”-3” inch lift.
I do not do any off-roading whatsoever other than maybe driving down the occasional dirt road.

My question is, do I spend the money on this or just do a leveling block kit and call it a day? Does a leveling kit really make the ride that much worse? I have been going back and forth with this for weeks and just need to do something at this point.

My last tacoma was a mall crawler, had a spacer & aal. Did make it ride rougher. But knowing what I know now, its better to do it right the first time. Go with the suspension lift, not spacers. Just my 0.02

That is a nice kit... Heres my 2 cents. it is up to you on what to do with your truck. I personally did a 0.5 spacer in front, and a 1'' block in rear. Overall 1'' lift all around. It rides fine, honestly no complaints really on it. BUT, Down the line I will eventually install a good lift like the one you put a link to... That will be in several years when truck is paid off etc... I did not see the need to go switching out brand new shocks and dropping the money right away on a better lift kit. I have about $130 into my 1'' lift.

I did the 5100s all around with OME 885 springs in front from Headstrong. I had a 1" block in rear. I just switched out to a AAL from sdtrucksprings with 2*shims from Headstrong. With the block I was getting a slight axle wrap vibe and the truck was pretty much level.(Rear was slightly higher less than an inch). I also have Sumo springs for towing. With the block and Sumo it was a bit harsh in the rear. Now the Vibe is gone I have about a 2" lift all the way around the it has a decent rake. The ride feels stock now. With my current set up this would all be less than $600.

i have a readylift 3/1 that I got cheap open box on Amazon... I got about 2" of lift from it. I don't think it changed the way it rides or if it did it was very minimal.. I've taken it offroad and it did fine. That being said I'm now starting to look at upgrading my shocks to a legit suspension lift and I'm in my paralysis by to many choices phase.

I have about 600 miles on the bills 5100 with OME 887 and the HS 3 leaf AAL kit from headstrong. I love the way the trucks rides now. I am glad I went this route, I was considering the spacer lift with blocks in the rear. Look into headstrong. Their kit is cheaper and they are really good to work with. I don't think you will be disappointed with the bilsteins.

I just installed this exact same config yesterday. 5100s with OME 887s with the Icon progressive 3 AAL. I bought all the parts separately and put the coils on myself for about $720. They're probably charging you $100 to have them install the coils. It's free to borrow a coil spring compressor from many auto parts stores. I did buy a .25 inch spacer for the driver side and watched Low Range Offroad OME and Toytec YouTube install videos. I just got my alignment done and it's noticably a much smoother ride. I got about 1.5 -2 lift all around. The truck is pretty much level now and I did notice rear sag when when I had about 300 lbs of tools in back. I did remove the overload spring and I also have a camper top too. If you end up going this route pay close attention to the bushings order on both front and back. I made a couple of dumb mistakes. My only concern is if I should have left the overload in. I'm not ripping anything apart anytime soon so I'm a roll with it. Feel free to ask me any questions while it's all still fresh.

I think headstrong added $70 to install springs. I did springs myself on my 01' but, I just had shoulder surgery and was barely able to install the lift. I had to have my son help out some. I kept the overloads just for that reason. I may need them at some point. Congrats on the lift.

I am about to purchase this kit from Headstrong, and I wanted to know if you needed to buy new UCAs for obtain good alignment? Im on 255/85/16 stock offset wheels and want to buy what i need to avoid rubbing. Thanks for your help!

I can't answer on the rubbing issue. I'm on 265/75/16 tires and the stock rims. If you stay with the 2 inch lift you should not need the UCA's. I had no problem with getting mine to align.

I agree with @rowdy1244, I also have 265/75/16s on the stock rims and no rub before or after lift or problem with the alignment. I'm actually considering bigger tires when these wear out since I've got plenty of room now. Good luck.
