What's up guys so I just bought my first Tacoma and I love it, before I was driving a little Chevy cavalier and it was very reliable but it was too small for me, I was wondering if I should keep the Tacoma as my daily driver or use it every so often. I want to get the most out of it... it has 124,500 miles and I put about 40 miles on it a day and I was doing the math it's 10,400 miles in a year, does anyone else driver theirs this much and if so have you guys had any problems with it? I have a 2003 2wd prerunner V6 sr5

I never would've associated the word 'reliable' with the Chevy Cavalier, lol. My g/f in high school had one of those years ago and it caught fire on her while she was idling in a parking lot one day.

Anyway, I bought my '04 last year with 24,500 miles on it (previous owner hardly drove it). I've now got just under 53,000 on it...I put nearly 30k on it in 16 months.

No problems other than standard maintenance and some repairs you'd expect to run into with a 13 year old vehicle. I also go 4x4'ing quite a bit and that takes a toll, but my truck has never left me stranded. Keep it well-maintained and it'll do just fine as a DD.

10k miles a year is below average.

I sold a '97 3.4 with 315,XXX miles on it last year and it still ran perfect. Like ^^he said, if you maintain it well with quality parts it will love you long time.

It's an asset, burn it up or get rid of it. It's kind of like having a GF that your trying to keep the miles off of.

You can push that to 300k easily if left stock.

I currently have 338,000 on mine. Was stock for the first 60,000 miles or so. Still original motor and transmission. Driven hard on road and off road.

Keep up on maintaining it. It'll treat you well in return.

They are fine as DD rigs especially if you leave them relatively stock. Modifying the suspension especially can have a bit of a snowball effect cost and reliability wise. That said I've never been able to leave my own stock for too long. Mine is a second vehicle and I've had multiple vehicles for the last 20 years. Unless you can either do all your own work or have deep pockets it's SO much cheaper to just have one vehicle. Always seems like something is broken once they get some miles on them. Right now my motorcycle could use a chain, my GTI needs a thermostat, and my Tacoma needs tires.... Not to mention what my house needs!

125K miles is a low mileage vehicle in my book. Miles don't kill vehicles. Neglect and misuse is more harmful IMO.

Mine went from DD to retired to be occasionally brought out of its sleep for runs to citywide garage sales or just to run it. This truck is such that I will never have the desire to get rid of it. However you decide to deploy yours, know that it will never let you down. DD or otherwise.

Just rolled to 310,000 miles today, maintain it well and you will get a very reliable, lasting vehicle

Just rolled 409k, drive it everywhere and still jump the piss out of it when the opportunity presents itself. Replace the wear and maintenance items and run good fluids and it will last forever. I own newer cars that are much crappier fit/finish and longevity than my taco.IMG_0039.jpg

I'm second owner on my 03 Double cab TRD Pre-Runner. Bought it with 42K on it and now have 203K. Agree with all the others. Just maintain it and drive it. It's crazy how much it will tow, and how consistent it is on gas mileage. Love the truck. Just wish it had more room for people and stuff. Thinking of keeping it, putting a camper shell on to be able to carry stuff out of the weather.

Drive it and have fun! Life is too short to drive another vehicle to protect your favorite vehicle... In the long run having 1 vehicle will save you a lot of money and you get to drive a great truck every day.
