Can you show a side picture? You can pickup a bit of lift by refreshing some suspension components without doing a number on your wallet and your suspension geometry.

How fast do you like to drive and what type of handling characteristics do you like?

I would concur that he should defiantly not look into the possibly of thinking about not lifting the truck.

We'll need some more info here... WHY are you considering a lift?

The most common reason to lift a truck is for bigger tires. That said, there are also guys here running 35" tires at the stock height, so you do not NEED to lift it to fit bigger tires. Those guys do a ton of cutting and welding so they fit, so most people opt for a lift.

Couple things to consider though. Most lifts don't actually prevent your tires from rubbing. They prevent them from rubbing at *ride height*. That means when you compress the suspension, they'll still rub. For mall crawlers that don't ever flex the suspension, that's the end of the story. Lift it and park in the mall.

What type of driving do you do, or do you plan to do? Do you want something that just looks cool or are you mobbing this thing doing 80 in the whoops?

Then there is your budget to consider. Do you only have $300 to spend, or are we talking oil tycoon type money?

    4 run, 2 don't
Lifted prerunner here; don't not think about doing it, because I don't recommend not doing it, but instead advising to not think about leaving it stock.

    Make sense?

If you offroad with your Prerunner or intend to, then you're going to find that you want 4wd and that feeling will only grow more intense. Been there done that with my old '99 Prerunner. If you have the means and ability to sell it for a 4x4 then you won't regret it. Or do a 4wd conversion on your Prerunner If you have the skillset for that.

Just trying to push the envelope a bit :D
