Greetings, I have a chance to transfer to grand junction from socal. It seems ideal for me since I love the outdoors, I do have a few concerns, I read it's the most dangerous city in Colorado and I'm single and 37, here in socal even a guy like me can get a bangable hot chick once a blue moon if I make a decent effort. Grand junction is obviously a way smaller town so would I have slim pickings?

That area is incredibly beautiful. If you love the outdoors it’s tough to pass up. I passed through for some dispersed camping in Rabbit Valley on a road trip last year and it was the most incredible solo camping experience I’ve had.

Nothing is gonna blow you away about Grand Junction it seems to be pretty meh compared to a lot of the towns in CO. However it is also more affordable and probably a lot more affordable than SoCal so there’s that. The location is pretty solid though. You’re right by Moab, Lake Powell, Arches, Canyonlands and pretty close to Fruita, Glenwood Springs, Aspen, Vail, Breck. I haven’t spent a lot of time in GJ as it’s known but I’ve stopped there a few times for groceries, booze, gas on my way to Utah. Nothing sticks out in my mind as feeling dangerous nor do I think it has a reputation of being particularly dangerous place. I think it’s probably mostly has it’s share of white trashy drug related property crime, thievery and domestic violence. As for the dating pool I’m not sure how it is there but my guess is not great, at least compared to Cali. There seems to be some hot chicks in every Colorado town though, might find a cowgirl or two. Plus if you have a good job, are decent looking and a respectable human being you might look a lot better than your competition. I doubt there’s much nightlife other than strip mall bars. Tinder, Bumble, Hinge etc might be your best bet.

Please don’t pay 50 grand over asking price to out bid someone on a house and continue to inflate our already inflated housing market
    Hope that helps a bit.

I wouldn't let the dating opportunity stop you from moving. After all, you never know just where you'll meet a significant other. Could be while out camping, could be at a brewery, could be at the super market.
I'd have a hard time believing that GJ is any more dangerous then Denver, or any other Colo. town.

The close vicinity to so many great outdoor adventure areas far out way any of the bad that I can think of.

So wait. The criteria for moving 800 miles is the statistical probability of banging a hot chick?

That's a big part of it yes lol (just keeping it real). Obviously California has nothing on the beauty of Colorado and I can't remember the last time I got laid (been busy with work and the little spare time I do have I have been doing a lot or camping, hiking and off roading) but in all seriousness I would like to find a good homely woman with similar values and hobbies to settle down with. There are a lot of hot chicks out here (but I also saw a lot in utah and Colorado) the ones in ca are mostly narcissistic whore bags

Hahaha! this cracked me up! Kinda fair though. OP is 37, don't wanna move to a place with no babes at that age... Or any age really.

Hope you mean't homey not homely :rofl:Good luck with your decision!

    I'm so confused.

Lol I should have clarified. Had my share of dressed up putas, I even dated a chick who bragged about being related to the kartrashians (ugh). My ideal woman is someone I can bring home to mom, knows how to shoot a gun, enjoys camping (not glamping or whatever crap millennial chicks are into) basically a more or shall I say way more attractive female version of myself (I would make one fugly female). I find the girl next door type of female more attractive than a plastic surgery fake anything barbie (well ill tolerate fake boobs I suppose lol, beggars, me, can't be chosers after all)

Think of GJT as a gateway to better places. It’s not bad but there are better places.

I dropped off a Excursion absolutely caked in mud and the peeps at Enterprise were pretty cool about it so there is that.

This thread has potential for sure....

If you do move to Colorado, change your plates/licence ASAP. The white plates are just really frowned upon (CA/TX).

Pretty sure LA would concern me more than GJ.

Check on auto insurance. I looked it up, and now Colorado is 2% cheaper than CA....but I would check. When I moved up out here, the difference from CA to CO was double (1997)

The whole hot chick thing...stay in CA. Trust me on that one. This is coming from a guy that left SoCal many moons ago. Are there beautiful women out here? Hell yes! Are they most likely taken...yep. :rofl:California just has more possibilities due to population. Swipe right.

I can't wait to leave CO in a few years. Any guesses as to why?

On a side note, a few members got the daily freebie. Keep the political talks out of the forum.

If I keep the politics out, I cannot tell you why you’re leaving except to say “where ever you go, don’t drag them with you”.

Dude...SoCal ain't the place for you. Knows how to shoot guns? Hahaha, in SoCal? Or any Cal? Go where you can be you! No one in CA can even own guns these days.

I'd head to Ouray, maybe Estes Park if it was me. If I needed a big city, Denver or surrounding areas.

Ultimately, figure out your priorities. If hot chicks are No. 1...don't leave SoCal. I've been in San Diego for 3 years. There's a 10 in most places...but they are mere 8s, maybe 7s, in SD. There is nothing like a San Diego 10. Except a La Jolla 10...OMFG!

    If it,s camping and the off-road scene...there a 10, then there's a Colorado 10. Colorado takes off-road to the next level.

Sounds like you are tired of Cali. Take a chance and go for it. Be the new guy.
