I'm trying to decide on whether it's worth the extra money to up grade to a 2016 or should I save a few dollars and get the 2016??

Do you want a 2016? Then save and get it. Do you want a 2015? Then get it. Both are great trucks. The only thing you really need to think about is the fact that new 2015s will be hard to get in a few months.

I personally never buy the first year of any vehicle that has had a drastic design change. That's just me though, with the 15 you know what the issues were, are and will most likely be. The 16 is a crap shoot. Not saying there not good but I would wait a couple of years for them to work out the bugs. Good luck with what you decide.

I feel the 2nd Gen is a great truck. The engine and tranny are extremely reliable. Motor has a nice amount of torque. Never hesitates with a large load. Mpgs aren't much lower than what the 3rd Gen offers. I would completely regret getting rid of mine to gething a 3rd gen. Everytime a Gen is updated, something is lost from the previous. Just as some things were lost from the 1st.

Not saying the 3rd Gen isn't a good truck. I just feel the 2nd Gen is a well rounded truck.

I would buy a '15 for the location of the oil filter alone.

Well if you don't want the 2016 then don't test drive it. You won't get the 2015 after a test in the 2016.

Gee, I don't know, Sctuna. Depends on what you want in a truck. If you want more of a car than a truck, sounds like the 2016 is right for you. If, on the other hand, you want higher torque and HP at lower RPMs, the 2016 might not be what you're looking for.

    All the time!!!
Well I've wanted a new Toyota for a good while, and when I saw the front end, and the inside of the 16's, well I went and bought a 15. But its what ever you prefer, but if you want a 15 you better get your ass in gear, it will be tough to find it just the color, and way you want.

'15. I bought a '15 in July after seeing and learning about what they were doing with the '16. Also, the '15 was the best-selling mid-sized truck for years, all while running essentially the same model from '05-'15. That translates into a tried and true truck with a decade of 'working out the bugs'. The '16s are brand new and untested thus far - and more expensive to boot.

You are also in the 2nd gen forum, so we're going to be biased...

I agree about the front end. Just doesn't work for me.

well, i personally like the 16. But you also said you like the 16, so between the 16 and 16, go with the 16:D. (Go with the 15)
