Should I put a exhaust band clamp on it?

Truck's exhaust was sounding weird the other day. Looked underneath and found a wonderful surprise. Can't really afford a whole new exhaust system right now. I feel like I could get a shop near me to do a weld for cheap. Or could I clamp it and still get a nice seal? First post here, go easy on my dumb ass.

I copy that. No frame rot on my truck. 10 years with previous owner during Midwestern winter put some serious surface rust on things.

Cheap fix, the clamp would work. You can get a cheap new exhaust pipe assembly rear of the cat for under $100

On a old beater car I had the same thing happen at the flex pipe. I took 7 or 8 pop cans out of the recycling, cut off the top and bottom, and hose clamped them. Worked perfectly and lasted a surprisingly long time.

If you have not already patched things.

A short piece inside then clamp both sides will buy you a little time really time for new.

Yep; band clamp would probably last you at least a year. Just don't over tighten. 2.25" by the way....

Solutions above will work and I’d get the truck sprayed with fluid film or we have rustcheck rustproofing up here in Canada.

interesting, mine did the same but the hangers are welded to my muffler, not the pipe. I just left the tail section off :p
