Should I replace 120K mi old starter if i have easy access to it?

    My point being is I have more faith in the stock one lasting longer than the replacement.

    i will keep the stock one. the deal i found does not require me to turn the old one in to get the core charge. i checked the reviews on the Remy, they are not bad

    I know you don't want to hear this, but I haven't had any issues with the stock starter for some 290,000 miles now. Though, I do understand your scenario.

    it is mostly spilled oil and related crud because i used to not empty the filter catchtray after changing oil but then subsequently learned the lesson.
