The timing chain failed on this 2012 2.7l Tacoma presumably due to the previous owner not keeping up with oil changes.
The shop that fixed it replaced the head and the aluminum timing cover due to the damage caused by chain whipping around. I just noticed that the valve cover has a chip taken out of the baffle near the oil cap. Would it be wise to replace the cover, or is it no big deal if it’s not leaking?
