Should I return the spacers I ordered or put them on?

Spacers are a much cheaper solution than a new set of wheels to clear some suspension components that get in the way when you life the truck, so saying they serve no purpose at all is kind of shortsighted. But it sounds like OP is just going for the looks, so it really is just a tradeoff between some small extra wear on components and how much you want your truck to look that way

Also, I'd get name brand stuff, but that isnt a guarantee that they'll be bulletproof. I had 2 lugs shear on a set of spidertrax last year and was as close as I hope to be to a seriously bad accident. Torque, red loctite, retorque and check regularly.

    OP,

Cons 1,2, and 3 are literally wrong. Con 4 is so minor that you shouldn’t even look at it. Con 5 is going to happen regardless if you take your truck off-road. Con 6 doesn’t concern you because who cares about people behind you, and con 7 is highly unlikely.

Roger, thanks. This has been helpful-ish. It’s pretty much a coin toss from what I understand ha. A. I put them on and the truck looks great and have no issues and live happily ever after.
    B. I put them on and the truck explodes.

1.25” spacers are going to give you the same look as any aftermarket wheel that is 1” wider. The difference in “wear” on your truck is negligible. Throw em on with loctite and don’t think twice.

Won’t loctite make it a royal pain in the arse if I need to take them back off??

Maybe you should have read the 20+ threads that are already available on this forum for reading before starting another thread about “whether you should install or return”.

People have asked this question numerous times and the answers are all available just like you’ve received in this thread. You getting annoyed by the answers you get doesn’t make sense. Do what you want. If it’s screws stuff up or chips up your paint then take them off.

It’s your truck not everyone else’s. You ask for opinions and it will obviously turn into a pros and cons thread just like the other multiple threads. There are pros and cons lovers and haters of just about every mod you can do to these trucks. It’s up to you to decide whether the spacers are right for you and your truck.

I would never put them on my truck, but that’s my truck. I wouldn’t ask others if I should put them on especially after already buying them.

Loctite has multiple strengths. So don't get Red.

I run Spidertrax 1.25" on my truck with zero issues. I put loctite on, torqued everything down and have been fine. Don't worry about the people trying to scare you.

lol thanks man that was very philosophical. I’m not annoyed was just making a joke. Perhaps you shouldn’t have engaged in this forum if you feel so strongly that I never should have started it. This has been awesome and I appreciate the feedback. I am new to Tacoma world and I love it.

The only negative I found when I had mine was that no tire shop in town would touch my truck. Had fun getting my tires rotated, had to beg. It was such an ordeal that I took them off, havent looked back since.

    1. Spacers will cause additional wear on parts up front, since the center point of the wheel is further from the pivot point of the steering, and increased leverage on the bearings up front. Same will happen with wider offset wheels, which a huge # of people have. Being careful with studs, and getting hub centric is good advice. FYI, I think the amount of weight I have in my truck at any given time hurts my bearings and tires much more than these spacers probably would.

    2. I think you meant 2" and 1.5" :) Either that or we all want to see pics of your truck.
