    OP,

As someone who used to own a 2002 Tacoma I'd keep the 1st gen. You've got low ass miles for an '04. My 2005 is about to hit 120k miles. I love my 2005 Tacoma but also loved my 2002. Only reason why I have a 2nd gen now is because my 1st gen got totaled while I was deployed and a used 2nd gen vs a used 1st gen price weren't that substantial when I bought my 2nd gen.

There are pros/cons to both vehicles, that's for sure. I love the bigger space inside on the 2nd gen (I have a 7 year old) as well as the additional power. IMO, the 3.4 motor in the 1st gens are pretty strong for a truck its size and they're damn reliable.

you've got a great truck already why have another payment if there's things that need to be fixed instead of putting money into a payment fix up what you've got. i can understand wanting something newer i just got my tacoma in december and sold my '02 dodge it needed work but i didn't need a big truck anymore

You'd be crazy to sell it. Supercharge it and put on some plate bumpers. That would be way cooler than a 3rd gen.

Keep it, new ones suck, they'll never hold candle to your current truck!

Keep it bro! 1st gens are great! My buddy had one for 4 years and loved the thing, then the dealership bought it back for double what he paid when the frame failed. I love my second gen but what I would give to get my hands on a clean 1st gen....

    Sell it!!!

Help whoever your paying interest to they have over head and employees to pay

I would not sell my 2000 back to Toyota even for the inflated price

I get asked if I want to sell my truck at least once a week

I'd absolutely keep it if I were you, but if not, you can sell it to me ! The -only- reason I'm even considering buying a new truck is because my 01 single cab is a little too small for me and my 2 boys (not to mention my husband!) and I work in sales at a Chevrolet dealer so I'll sadly be upgrading to a Colorado instead of a 2nd gen... But they'll have to pry the keys to my 'Yota outta my cold dead hands! I'm just breaking it in at 238,5xx miles and it's mine!

I wouldn't sell mine for all the tea in china, it's just been too good to me. I'd feel like a traitor if I got rid of it, like letting it down, something it has never, and probably will ever do to me. They just don't make 'em like they used to! Honestly though, if Toyota brought back a basic, affordable compact truck again, I'd own one in a heartbeat. I don't like the size of the newer ones at all, might as well just get a full size IMO.

Keep it, a lot of the times I wish I would have saved a shit load and got a used 1st gen. I love my dad's so much and he's got 400k on her and he says he would rather drive his to Alaska than mine lol. Great little trucks. I guess I had to one up his ass. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MY TRUCK. but those first gens will always have the first part of my heart
