You're completely right, thank you for the advice. Priority now is just to get rid of both debts, whatever I have left over pays for the car outright, no more car loans.

I actually work a second job, one of the reasons I cant go and camp, offroading etc. The extra free time goes to that job. It's possible but absolutely sucks.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
    Fo sho

Got my truck loan through a credit union. Pretty good rates and can pay towards principle at any time.

Believe it or not some of the dealership loan places will penalize/charge you for additional payments/paying it off lol.

You need to talk to someone about debt consolidation.. then go from there... and see if you are able to keep the truck.

Seems like there’s been a lot of good advice given here OP. I would take it to heart and do the hard thing and sell the truck as long as you don’t end up upside down on the loan.

Assuming you’re young, there’s always nicer shinier things down the road. Drive a reliable cheap boring car now, pay off that debt, and save at least half cash payment for something to purchase in the next 5-10 years. Never, ever, take the no money down options with current interest rates.

Don’t get caught up in the rat race. I’ve modded my truck to hell and back but that was only after I paid it off and owned a home that I could easily afford the mortgage on. I worked 3 jobs at one point and that was with zero debt in order to save for the things that I wanted. It sucked, but majorly paid off 10 years down the road. Better to have cash in the bank than cash owed. Delayed gratification is your friend when it comes to the stuff you want and your wallet/mental health will thank you.

"If you figure gas at $3/gallon you'll only save about $800/year on gas. If you TRULY do only drive 40miles/week the Honda will only save you about $175/year in gas money." Bridgeport, California about 9 months ago. SF Bay area might be slightly better.

I hope you stick to that plan. You've heard from many here and on reddit who encourage it.
    Good luck!:fingerscrossed:

I 100% agree with you, thank you for the advice. Surprisingly, I do have a second job, that's where I put the miles on my truck and the truck makes it easier to do(it's utility Pole inspections in the santa cruz mountains, the truck gets me onto some back roads where some cars without the clearance can't get into). I should have mentioned that with the two jobs, I can pay the car note and maybe $100 or $200 off the CC debt buuut I have no room for putting money away. I'm truly not 100% if I need an awd because i hear it reduces the mpg, just don't know by how much.

That's what sucks, I truly don't have time to do that, I work a second job and take classes. If I have a full day off, it's dedicated to studying.

I bought a 23 for myself to give the 22 to my son, not sure if I liked it better then the 22 for what the money was worth, ended up giving it to Carvana and essentially ended up paying around $200 a month for owning it. Best "lease" I have ever had!

People get into this by spending more than they earn. Too many cars that are too expensive, too many dinners and lunches at expensive places when they could brown-bag, "bar night" with friends to appear you can keep up with them, etc. You either have to significantly cut back on the out-flow or get more in-flow.

Cancelling cable, 1 limited-budget bar night with friends every 2 weeks, brown bag lunches, learn to cook hamburgers for dinner ... that can be the same as getting a second job ... or you look at how much free time you have to spend what you do not have. Even part-time work on weekends helps pay down debt.

Maybe I am more lucky than some to only need 8 hours per day for my job and no weekends, so I have much inbetween time. But something will break ... you will be bankrupt or you will prevent that be recognizing you cannot spend that much on junk.

I do not want everyone to know what I buy, how much and when. Discover kept reminding me about more 5% categories *this month* than last month based on my spending habits .., I deleted the email account in their records because I was not going to create an online management account with them just to select emails I want.

CCs get too damned nosey when they see all the details. And "rewards" come at a price.

Not educated is finance (or anything for that matter), but have often felt the pressure from finances ….so I went down the rabbit hole.

    Great books:

The Creature from Jekyll Island - hell of book, even the Game of Thrones had a 30 second spot for the creature. 1920's Germany called the creature The Deep State.

The Secrets of the American Empire - tells why being the world's reserve currency has its challenges in the global economy. ;-)

oh hell, wanna get really deep? Wiki has lots of cool free stuff on the Rothschild Bros ….they were so bad ass they got to pick who won wars.

Money mechanics, it tells the story of those who work-to-live and live-to-work.

Nice hustle with the 2nd job. With so little miles driven, gas mileage is negligible in your situation. It's going to be about finding the correct replacement vehicle with the clearance you need. Too bad you do not have a temporary vehicle you could use to sort this out. I still think selling the Taco, paying of the CC and picking up another vehicle in the $8k - $11k range is the way to go. If you are only dropping 40 miles per week, you can live with an older car for a few years while you build up some savings. Just be sure to buy something used with a good reputation like Toyota or Honda. Good luck to whatever you decide. Bay Area life is tough so I'm rooting for you.

We have a 2015 awd Acura rdx that gets like 30 mpg. No clearnance, but if I can get over the obstacle it will take you there, and it’s fun to drive. Shit, we still have our 2006 mdx that gets at least 25 mpg …..that damn thing is bulletproof too.

very mixed feelings on this. one post in the garage section, the guy paid cash for a wrench at home depot, and still got an email the next day asking him to leave a review on their site for the tool.

we're being tracked everywhere by everything. phones, and companies.

i understand the desire to not want to be tracked, but using credit card services, at least i'm getting a small discount/rebate out of the deal...

They should delete the word "anonymous" from the dictionary ... are at least classify it as "archaic, midieval concept". :notsure:
