    Awesome thanks will check.

I cleaned out a throttle body reallllly good on an old 4runner (5vz as well) i had and it high reved after that once i got the carbon deposits out and messed up the seal around the butterfly valve. Should i be concerned about this again?

It's normal for the idle to be a bit weird after cleaning the throttle body, depending on how dirty it is, but it should level itself out after a bit of driving. I don't know about "high" revving though, mine idled about about 1200 RPMs for a day after I cleaned mine. As for the seal I can't really say, depends on what condition its in and if it needs replacing just due to age. Those are pretty cheap to acquire though just for the peace of mind.

Mine looks about the same as yours, 98 5vz 5mt extra cab same color. And I’ve got 325k, just did valve cover gaskets and all associated parts same with the timing belt. Just rebuilt the entire front end with new everything, changed all fluids in the truck, new shifter bushings, full time up, wheels, tires, and now I’m moving on to replacing the entire rear suspension. Maybe next I’ll throw a supercharger at it Don’t get rid of your baby! Fix her up throw a supercharger on her and you will be grinning from ear to ear for the next 400k miles.

TAKING THE ADS DOWN NOW. I reckon I came to the right place to be talked off a ledge. Once I deep cleaned her in and out for the sale we fell in love again...Now if only I could learn to keep girlfriends around like this haha

    Maintenance plan:
valve cover gaskets + those half moon shits, cleaning throttle body, MAF, intake Mani/Pedi, Some seafoam, Differential fluid change, Plugs, Wires

Anything else? Kind of want to put some money in her to ensure i made the right choice.

I went from a 1st Gen to a 2nd Gen. Sold my 03 six years ago and still regret it.

Keep the 1st Gen, rebuild the bitch if and when the time comes but don't get rid of it.

keep the truck, you can use it as a commuter vehicle but youll need to get some all season tires on it in order to get the best MPGs and ride comfort, I was getting 20-21 mpgs on my 04 TRD was my DD

Looks like the high desert which I would consider brutal winters/winds
Ive been up to Minnesota and to the boundary waters a couple times. Your signature makes it seem like its you against the winter and floods at all time. Give me a good reason to head north and I will. I want to chase some Musky this winter...

Also what do you mean de-weather?

Haha that Gif is pretty good

What tires do you run? Ive done some research on a less aggro tire but really came up empty handed. Now that I don't live in the mountains and I mostly face Muddy boat ramps and doing donuts in the neighbors I don't like yards (just kidding)I don't need my A/T's anymore

they have had to close the interstate in Iowa north out of town 3x this year due to river flooding!
de-weathering i refer to as repairing any damage the winter monster has done in almost 1/4 century

Dude, I have no advice on the truck, but the second I saw the pic of you by the truck I immediately thought of this guy. Don't eat any wild berries out there! lol
