I've been tempted to get the KO2 tires, run them year around, but sipe them an 1/8" or less right before the snow flies. So basically, the tread has sipes through the winter months, then disappear as wear occurs as summer comes on. Then rinse and repeat the next year. My thinking is to sipe a bunch in the middle of the large tread blocks, but sipe way less where the edges can chuck. The last 3 or 4 years now I've purchased Blizzak or X-Ice tires and they have been very good in the winter, but I'm getting tired of buying 2 sets of tires for every car I own.

As an FYI, on my wife's Subaru Forester I left on a set of X-Ice tires on through the summer, thinking they were nearing end of life and I'd get that extra bit of life out of them. I thought I'd have to put the summer tires back on mid summer but they wore really well! I just left them on through the summer and another winter. I just took them off to put on the summer tires and it looks like they could do another winter. So basically, I ran them from the end of October 2018 through spring of 2020. I've always been under the impression that tires like the X-Ice didn't like the summer heat, but that doesn't appear to be the case, at least here in the PacNW.
