Should I spend more for a 2nd gen with low miles?

Found a 2nd gen in my favorite color and configuration (speedway blue, DCSB, TRD Sport 4x4)

Mileage is 121,000 and he wants $16,500.

Should I be worried about buying something with this high of mileage?
How difficult is it to sell a Tacoma with 150,000 miles if I decide to move into a 3rd gen in 1-2 years?

    Where are you located?
    Have you checked KBB?
Have you test driven the truck?
Go brand new if you have the cash.

Don't know, but my 2010 speedway blue DCLB Sport has that much on it and is running strong.....(and I push it with towing and plowing). How's the frame?

That pic is a Long Bed, and I wouldn't be to worried about the mileage if it was well cared for. Where is it from? Check the frame.

    It's about $1500 too high
Not yet, but it has been inspected and there is good maintenance history.

New is what is like to do, just worried about depreciation. I can afford the truck, texgnically. But I'm cheap

If you're planning on upgrading in a few years, sure why not. Tacoma's run for ages as you well know, and 2nd gens are pretty great (but from personal experience, get the thing inspected before buying if buying privately).

From a financial standpoint, I'd recommend staying away from new, as they will lose value quicker, whereas if you get 2-4 years old, they have tapered off on losing value a little bit, and you can still get good rates on the loans. Or just buy cash on something like what you've got if you can. Remember, everytime you buy you're paying sales tax, so high turnover on cars is expensive!

Value-wise, that looks about right. Probably around what my '11 with 115K is worth I'd imagine. I plan on keeping mine until it no longer runs affordably.

Yeah i don't expect to make money off this tacoma lol, but I would like to be able to sell it or trade it in for a new one and get at least $12,000 with around 150k miles. Assuming I keep up with the cosmetic condition

On SB's, the fender flare is only an inch or two from the front of the bed. If you see any noticeable space from the flare to the front of the bed it's a LB.

Good looking truck. Find out what kind of lift it has and how many miles since it was lifted.

Other questions are model year? And if frame had been replaced yet? Depreciation isn't your issue as much with a used as it is with a new. You'll get plenty of years out of it i'd be willing to say.

Yeah. Me too. I'll keep mine until the frame rots, get a new frame (etc), and keep running it.

I paid 12k for a 07 off road with 220k miles kkb said it was worth 14k at the time. 260k miles now never had a single problem. Runs like a dream. Gotta love Toyota :)
