    I’d keep it since you seem to have a rainy day fund for any repairs.
    However I understand the itch for something new, you don’t need our input for that. If you want to get a new truck that reason is good enough.

    As somebody who's owned a 3rd gen, I'd agree that the driving experience is quite a bit different compared to a 2nd Gen. More car like IMHO. There's a reason the 2GR-FKS isn't used in petrol Hiluxes and LC 70's around the world. The manual version of the 3rd Gen hauls ass though.

    I think it just depends on how much you value creature comforts like having a new interior, newer tech, new car smell, etc matters to you. Personally, I think having a paid off, reliable vehicle is a good thing. I'd say keep your current truck and put your money into something that will net you a return on your cash. I don't believe a vehicle is one of those things.

    I still think the Tacoma is a good buy even at MSRP
    It really doesn’t depreciate much.
    My thoughts are life is short and we are all going to be dead for a long time at some point. If you can swing it with out killing your self go for it. It’s a great truck

    Keep it if it meets your needs for size. The new trucks are annoying in many ways. They have a bad throttle lag and crazy shift points in transmission. Many of the new safety features take control of the truck away from the driver. Your resale value will not drop much by keeping it a couple more years and you can see if Toyota fixes the issues with the 3rd gen trucks. I recommend that you test drive a 3rd gen truck under hilly, windy, cruise control, and various other conditions before trading, if you decide to trade. Do not rush into this decision. You may regret it later.

    4th Gen will be out in like 2-3 years time, will likely be a turbo'd hybrid 4 banger with a lot of improvements from what I've read. The first few years will have growing pains just like every other Tacoma gen, so something to think about there.

    The 3rd Gen's drive really nicely once they get tuned. But you nailed it, the auto trans issues are pretty noticeable. Lack of torque on the bottom end is pretty noticeable too between the 2.5G and 3G.

    Personally, I'd keep the old girl and wait to see what the future holds. Put that money in the stock market while everything is currently on sale lol. Ride it out 5 years and then go buy two Tacos with your earnings lol

    Wait for the 4th gen Taco in a couple years and get one then with the sweet hybrid tax credit.

    Haha. Best comment I've seen in a minute. Keep it dude. Speaking from experience. You can always keep a private post up for a ridiculously high amount and if the right person wants it, it's a no brainer. But trying to squeeze out a couple thousand more, with the hassle, all just to end up having a down payment and paying probably $500-$700/mo.for a new vehicle anyways, isn't really coming out on top. Unless of course your main goal is just to buy a new vehicle. In which case, post it and see if anyone bites. You can't lose because you can always trade it in, buy the truck you really want and have less initial maintenance. Sounds like you've got options, money and time. Life is good!

    i agree with @MSgt O one this one bud, i say its personal choice, I personally have driven 3rd gens and they are cool but for me there is something ab the 2nd gens that i just enjoy, but id say try different things and figure out what works for you one thing i will say is once you trade it in or sell it thats it, you aint gettin that truck back so if you do decide to trade it in make sure that you are 100% positive thats what you wanna do, goodluck.

    $11k is on the lower end from my experience. Picked up a used 2012 Prerunner with 60k miles for right under $25k out the door. Id imagine a 4x4 would be much easier to sell. Personally, i wouldnt trade the truck unless it was for something a little bigger (i.e a used 2.5 gen tundra). Otherwise, i would put that money into turning the truck you have into the truck you want. You’ll realize that the $30k price difference goes a long way in terms of mods. Still, some things can not be bought (or are not worth the money) such as interior design, transmission, etc. so if that is what you are looking for i say pull the plug and get the new truck. If reliability and repairs are your main concern, at 80k miles i dont think you’ll save all that much buying a new truck.

    TLDR;
    Keeping truck is best financial move.
