Personally, I think I would wait for a year to see if there are any bugs with the new design. After selling cars and then servicing them I would never get the first year of anything unless it was simply a matter of cosmetic changes. I bought a Victory Gunner last year- first year for the bike, but all the mechanicals have been around for a few years- it was just different seat, tins, tires, etc... so not really taking a chance.

Ya I didn't fall in love with it like I did my 2nd gen trucks, but the tech and creature comforts were very alluring.

I think you aren't going to lose much value in your current truck by waiting. It seems prudent to wait and let Toyota fine tune the current platform. As much as I'd like the moonroof and other creature comforts, I'd be paying roughly 5-6k for the upgrade from my 2013 to the 2016 model I'd like. Doesn't seem pragmatic even though I have a pretty good deal sitting in my email from a local dealer.

For me I would take 2016 Tacoma over 4 runner. I think the exterior styling looks awesome!

Just actually broke things off with according to the crazy/hot matrix a 6/8 so dating zone, though it is an ever moving scale.

And Im not worried about value either like you said and I have seen with others and the 1st gen market, these trucks will still hold their value. It was just the idea/thought of moving into the latest and greatest, but financially not worth it right now and would like to see the updates for 2017 as Toyota mentioned power seats, etc.

It's awesome watching the fellow 2nd genners doing everything they can to keep a brother from going to the dark side!

All kidding aside, good luck in whichever decision you make. It's much easier to make these purchases when your a single guy with little ties holding you down so make sure it's something you want to keep and will be happy with for a good many years.

Me and Dean have thread dueled before, overall well intentioned guy, just overly loyal to his 3rd gen like most owners are of their trucks.

Hey @usafwx did you take your truck to Carmax? Maybe they'll give you more than the dealer or try to sell it private party.

I know with my lift and tire/wheels around here I could easily get $32-33k for it private party, but then I don't get the trade credit when buying the 16 so I end up losing whatever I made up/negligible. For me it was more of do I really need a new 16 and the hit in $$$ or just be content with my 15, I do love her, but the 16 has me in a weird place, I like some things, hate somethings, just kind of indifferent. When I bought my 11 and 15 I didn't even hesitate.

Nah, I don't ignore anyone, but don't response to those with a clear agenda and nothing useful to offer to the Tacoma community.
