Don't be surprised how much your aftermarkets are worth. You'll probably only recoup about half of what you put out. $1000 for wheels/tires and $500-600 for that lift. Like I said, if you like the 3rd gen, have the dealer swap over all your goods onto the new truck and be good.

I wonder if they even would? hmmmmm. And no to dealers aftermarket means nothing, but to private party and in my particular area of Jersey, lifted trucks mean extra $$$ especially with quality components.

I've seen a lot of people do similar things when the changed the front end on the 2nd gen. Ask. Worse they can say is no.

I think part of the trade was they wanted it lifted. There were 2 people loving my truck while I was on the test drive/looking over the 16.

With lease residuals of some 2016 configurations as high as 75%, you could lease say a 6MT TRD OR for three years for about the hit you are thinking about taking on a truck you drove for a year. Just sayin'.

If I was willing to accept $8.5k/yr in depreciation, it would be on a $67k BMW M3, not a $35k pickup.

Not familiar with leasing. But being a single dude and constantly "upgrading" vehicles might be smarter.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you "upgrade" every 3 years, you'd definitively be better off leasing than buying/trading every 3 years. Leasing doesn't even preclude you from lifting, because you can always buy out the lease and sell privately. You also avoid the tax issues, presuming your state taxes the lease payment instead of the whole cap cost.

One can never have too many light bars.
Thats a shit trade amount. They're gonna list your used truck for 36 and make even more off you. If anything wait a year for supply to catch up with demand, you could still probably get 30 on a trade and you'll have more haggle room.

Which is exactly what I was thinking. One dealer offered me $26k I told them literally to kick rocks and that was an insult even for a stock truck and they had a lifted 2012 on the lot listed for $34k.

    The better coast
If you're hesitant I would hold off. Holding off won't cost you anything and you can always get a 16 if you decide.
