[IMG] [IMG] I am on the fence about this trade due to my taco being my DD. Found a guy that has close to 60k invested in his restored, 92 Land Cruiser.

The only upgrades the tacoma has is method wheels, bilstein 6112/5160 suspension with 13k miles on the clock.

    Here is the Landcruisers description:

Restored, Clean and rust free 1992 80 Series Land Cruiser with a 5.3L V8 LS engine swap and 4L80 Transmission. 4500 on the 5.3L engine. Makes close to 400 HP. Swapped the original transfer case for a 60 Series TC. This truck is clean inside and out. Matte-grey wrap on the exterior, two-tone leather seats front and rear, upgraded sound system and head unit. OME Suspension lift, upgraded off-roading wheels and Toyo Open Country tires and much more. Truck runs flawless and pull hard. All electronics, AC/Heat work.

I personally wouldn't. You're trading a new vehicle with warranty and current safety features for someone's old project that may have some hidden issues. I especially wouldn't trade it for an LC with LS swap..

I mean overall looks really good. the pricing on them has gone way up. the LS swap is pretty decent for hp. its a manual so that is nice. i mean if you're into it that's untimely your decision. how's the paint under the wrap?

The restoration was done by one of the big off-road shops in Texas, so it was professionally done. I'll need to see about paint.

I'm sure it's tempting, but I wouldn't. If you want a rig like that, build one. Then you know it inside and out and you aren't trying to unravel someone else's mess. Not a good DD unless you or an extremely proficient shop built it and can stand behind it.

One thing to consider is who else you are going to be driving with as its your DD. It might be a rougher ride than the Tacoma. It looks cool, but I'd keep a newer safer vehicle as a dd.

Hard no. don't buy something someone else has futzed up. If you want a vehicle like that, do you own project, don't buy a mess someone else created.

so one thing to look at with stuff like this, is the company that built it know for quality products. any history of them not standing up for their work? do they do this all the time kind of work? i have a friend who is know for some wild builds and he is meticulous with the work. but i also know there are companies who do the same work, and the product is crap, but they turn out 2x the workload because they use cheap parts. and if anything goes wrong, they often say "its a custom build, you know there will be some issues."

A rig like the LC would not be a good daily driver in my opinion. As others have noted, unless you have done the conversion yourself and are willing to work on it, other shops you might encounter may be less than enthusiastic to work on it. Or just flat out say we aren’t interested in working on it.

It's risky to trade your DD for such a vehicle. How confident are you that it will be reliable? What if it is not?

I am a big fan of the 80 Series (not so into the LS swap necessarily...).

It sounds like a great toy. Not such a great option as a DD.

If it was a 93+ I'd say yes. 93 got a much better engine. I went from a 2018 Tacoma to a 2001 LX470 (land cruiser) and I couldn't be happier. The LC is a better vehicle. Costs triple the price of a Tacoma when new for a reason.

I understand the lack of trade options, but for the cash price, that thing really should sell. There are stock ones out there with similar mileage and less maintenance for more money.

What blows my mind is when they seem like a good deal IE triple locked or low mileage but unlocked, they either have a salvage title or a rusted frame
