should i trade my 09 tacoma sr5 access cab 4x4 for an 03 tacoma with trD? reasons i want an older model unstead of my current tacoma:
i like the older models better.
    *they seem more durable
    *not as big
*better on gas i think( or theyre close )
    *easier to work on
    *less to go wrong electronically
no trac control/stability control or any .
*Better built ( in my opinion)

my truck currently has 91,000 miles and still going strong. i have not had any problems with it, except for the radio and the front end wanders like it needs a new steering rack or something..but not totally sure.
Will i be dissapointed if i give up this truck for an older model? 1st gens seem to hold theyre value much better even with high miles.
i just remember being able to beat the piss out of my 99 taco and not much would go wrong. (nothing) would go wrong i mean ! this one i am concerned that something will break or something.. thanks in advance for the replys!

If it makes you happy...do it.

Others (myself included) may not agree with your reasoning, but at the end of the day, it will make you happy...

I would do it myself, if I had a 2nd gen to trade for a 1st gen, just because I like the 1st gens better. I wouldn't do it at the same time because I have a family of four, wife, 5 yr old daughter, and 15 month old son, so I would like the space of the 2nd gen for this reason. If it was just me, I would do it. You can ask until your blue in the face but at the end of the day, it's your vehicle, your preference, and your decision. I don't think you would be going wrong either direction.

You can't really go wrong with either keeping your 2nd gen or 1st gen. And yes they hold a lot of value (in my opinion somewhat too high in some instances) which means you will be paying top dollar for anything with even a HINT of low mileage and 4x4. PreRunners seem to go for a few thousand less depending.

Your other reasons (seems better built, better mpg, seems more durable) can be mainly based on opinion. I actually get better mpg in my 13' v6 4x4 than my dad does with his 04 PreRunner 3.4L v6, go figure. The margin is not that high though.

If you want a simpler, less electronics, smaller profile truck, then 1st gen is great. However good luck finding one with low mileage, low rust quantity, and a good price. You will probably compromise somewhere of those 3.

Is there two threads of the same topic?

Also I really miss my 01 double cab. It was Definitely a more solid truck than my 05, although the steering geometry and ride is much better in the 05.
Your going to pay a lot though, I got a 11,000 dollars for a 01 prerunner with 285,000 from the insurance company when it was totaled
