Never said it could outrun it, clearly you cannot read I specifically said it beats it off the line and then said the 3rd gen would win, you're a special kind of slow aren't you?

Kind of sad you would take your insults to a personal level and bring me serving our country so a POS like yourself can run their mouth on internet forums like this. By the way I have a AS, BA and working on my doctorate in PT, go kick rocks.

And this is why I hardly ever read in the 3rd gen section. What a bunch of horse shit back and forth.
    %80 of 3rd gen owners saying buy a '15.
All others thinks it's a stand alone model that's the best thing since sliced bread.
Never again will I bath in this dirty water. :frusty::censored::deadhorse::lalala:

No opinion on any of this but I would like the name of the dealership with the tight skirts and boo jobs. Just to, you know, report them to Toyota corporate.

I seriously think that the last few years of the Frontier is a hidden gem in reliability, durability, and price all in one package.

Just like the 2nd gens little nuoances but for the most part long in the tooth but damn reliable. Seems like any new model these days just arent as good. Sad hopefully kinks and reliability will be worked out as I want to remain a taco owner, I've owned 4 in all gens, before the 3rd gen guys scream I'm biased.

No offense, as you do seem like an intelligent person from the posts i've read. From an outsider's perspective, you do seem to spend a lot of time here in the 3rd gen to 'point out the issues'. That may come off wrong to some owners. I'm not offended, and I read and value a lot that I read here--especially from high post count members.

Every vehicle forum i've ever been on - we've shared tips/tricks/problems/solutions BECAUSE we like the vehicle we're discussing!

This seems to be the first vehicle related forum that i've joined where instead of sharing the same enthusiasm for a specific vehicle (because that's obviously why we're here) members here like to point at laugh at other people's problems and proclaim superiority on what they own.

I myself kind of fell into that trap and toxic behavior and started posting in a different demeanor that I usually don't on other forums because that's the kind of 'vibe' this place has cultivated on me.

I stay around because there are some really nice and informative threads--I think i'll just stick to reading and contributing on those threads.

I first read through this post a couple of days ago and I was thinking about some of the comments on my drive in to work this afternoon, because I've been thinking about swapping my 2014 Tacoma out for something else...either a 2017 Tacoma or a F-150 once they pair their 2.7L EcoBoost engine up with the new 10-speed transmission (and get through the first production year).

Based on the strong following Tacoma trucks have, current issues with the GEN3, and my opinion that Toyota has started to bow out of the mid-size truck market I am thinking I will hang onto my GEN2 Tacoma for a while. My reason being I can see the later GEN2 truck holding their value very well in the future and the truck has been great over the first 35k miles. It is a little light for my hauling needs sometimes but I guess that is to be expected for any mid-size truck...basically a large SUV with a bed.

My point...I'd suggest that the OP stick with his GEN2 Tacoma, at least for a couple of years anyways. Just my two cents.

Funny, I had vibration issues in my '14, it got shitty gas mileage and I had to constantly adjust the temperature controls to stay comfortable. The stupid vent on the dash on the right side of the steering wheel would blow on me not matter what position it was in. The seats sucked also. It had a plane Jane interior. Besides that, after looking at a '16 in person, the '14 was just plain old boring and dated inside and out. Some people like that. It got old fast and couldn't wait to get a 3rd gen when they were announced. Beside the frames and leaf springs going bad I really couldn't find any thing else wrong with the '14.

I truly apologize as I don't mean to be a Debbie downer. I've owned 3 2nd gens and have explored all I can there, which is why I spend a lot of time here, I'm an avid Tacoma fan I've owned every gen and want to keep being an owner. I was so excited why the 2016s came out but as more details came to light like many others here were disappointed in Toyotas direction though I love the interior and crawl control upgrades to name a few. The bad blood started though when the new owners came in new to the forum with little Tacoma knowledge and started fights trying to disprove carry over parts, etc. then they resorted to the to poor to afford it comments and fugly stuff (not all but quite a few). I love this forum and I hate the crap that goes on in the 3rd gen forum, I will try to pick less but I get into it when someone tries to say I'm wrong with no facts when they are wrong and I have the facts and knowledge to prove it and then the name calling and I lose my cool which is bad on my part. I think both groups 2nd and 3rd need to chill. 3rd gen needs to get off their high horse sometimes and listen to those who have been here awhile and not get so defensive and 2nd gen guys need to also try not to nit pick what are large investments with guys new trucks. Thanks for your post and bringing things back to perspective. Sorry for poor grammar, spelling, at track trying to write this on my phone.

    Fantastic post, and great points!

Every vehicle has issues, but why not discuss them in an informative manner and share enthusiasm of why we're even on this forum?

I read back at some of my old posts and I am ashamed of some of my posts defending the 3rd gen.

The wealth of knowledge here is incredible and we should not mix it with toxic posts.

I place the blame for the severe division solely on toyota. They pissed off a lot of people when they killed their legendary compact pickups. Then they had the nerve to call the 2nd gen T100 a Tacoma because the Tacoma nameplate carries much more notoriety than the T100. But make no mistake, there never was a true second gen tacoma. There's only the be(1)st gen tacoma, compact pickup. The rest are T100's, midsize pickups.

I would think if Toyota came out with a compact 'no frills' type of pickup with 4X4 and small 4-door option, it would be a complete success -- but only problem is, the market is probably too small for them to build such a vehicle.
