My first car/truck ever was a hand me down '86 pickup with (rare) long bed! I loved the size and utilitarian feel of the truck. So i've always had a sweet spot for the smaller trucks. I've always wanted a '92 extracab in white - 5-speed.

I didn't know the long beds were rare. I had a coworker with one a few years back

Maybe it was only rare in my area. I never saw another one the 2 years I had the truck.

Im not reading through 9 pages of this.. but in reference to the TFL Truck video where they "race" 1st v 2nd v 3rd gen tacos.. they use that section of that track to test 0-60 times on other vehicles. It is nowhere near long enough to be 1/4 mile long as most cars barely make it to 60 by the end of it before sharply braking or ending up in the grass.

To their credit, a quarter mile acceleration time is hardly useful in the real world for a truck.

I would be more interested in say 60-80 (power and time it takes for an average freeway pass)

Totally agreed, it is deceiving to the non observant person, the fuss was that the 2nd gen wins OFF THE LINE (slightly more torque, weighs less), but the 3rd gen would or should beat it to the line in a normal 1/4 mile, 0-60.

The whole 2nd gen turd gen thing is especially amusing to those of us that went from 1st gen to the 2016. After I bought my 2004, when the totally redesigned 2005 came out I was loving my new truck too much to care about the redesign.

I could post my personal info as well but it really does not matter.

We collided 1st of all because I feel that the video is very misleading that you told me to look at in which I had already seen many times, many others feel it is misleading as well.

But, I did not join this board to argue and from here forward I will not participate in that type of behavior with you or anyone else

Most importantly you felt you are right and I felt I was right.
TBH, it really does not matter who is right.

I love my 3rd Gen Taco just as I loved both of my 1st Gen Tacos and I`m glad that you love your 2nd Gen Taco.

So you ask us whether you should trade and the overwhelming response is no, but you do it anyway! Why did you ask???
    Seriously, enjoy your new truck.

I read as much good as I did bad on the forum about the new truck so I went and test drove one really liked it
I think a lot of people that didn't like the new truck are not Tacoma owners in the past these trucks all have little ticks over the years I have owned all Gens..
I think a lot of the negativity stems this from buyers remorse is well
I watch people buy 40 and $50,000 cars all day long and pick them to death

I do want to thank everybody for the input

Congrats, mind disclosing how much of a hit you took on your trade? I think most of us advised simply based on financial standpoint. But life is short, you work hard to enjoy what you want!

I enjoyed both of my 2nd Gen's but I enjoy this one more. I am fortunate that I have not experienced some of the issues posted. Some issues are serious and some are nitpicky. I have felt the vibration at 2k rpm on the gas peddle(not a big deal as other cars have done it). Occasionally I have a slight lag going to D when the engine is cold. Other than that, no issues. I have not heard the whistle but then again I might be tone deaf from working on jet aircraft for 20 years. What gets me is the people who constantly crap on every thread.
For those who worked on CH-53 Stallions, you know if the head is not leaking oil then its dry and you are about to crash!!!!

Did you make sure to check the Engine, Differentials, Transfer Case, Transmission levels and lubricate your drive shafts?

This way in a couple of months we dont hear back from you that its broken.

    Service managers are honest. o_O

Congrats on the truck though. It's been 7k miles and I still get giddy every time I drive our '16.
