I was thinking the same thing when u mentioned that size of 245 I was kinda cringing on the inside but didn’t wanna say anything lol. I’ve done soooo much research reading these forums and it appears the 265/70/17 is THE size to not mess with much but offer a tiny bit of upgrade and beef from
The stock without extra modifications (maybe a mudflap maybe not). The bigger question is just WHAT tire lol. And also on some tires like the nitto ridge grappler there are diff loads like C and E. Etc. That’s what I gotta learn is which one to pick out of the many diff versions of the same model lol. This is all educational lol. U got any clues or ideas on the alphabet soup game of tire selection? Especially for someone looking for that beefy look but yet mostly a highway and city driver.

ok, I've done even more research and have decided on the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W in the 255/70-R17 size. The Falkens are SL rated and are only 3.6lbs heavier each then the Bridgestone Dueler HL Alenza Plus......and the size is .50" taller and .40" narrower (Using the tire size calculator on here) which is fine by me!........and I've read great reviews all around on the Falkens......I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at 3pm at the tire shop........as a side note, I had a fricking screw in the very edge of the tread and sidewall and the tire shop didn't want to patch it because they said it wouldn't work but I convinced them to try it anyway.....might be a sign from above????!!...LOL....

Well damn! As I’ve been following this u know I’ve gotta see it to the end. U sound a lot like me with the researching. And I have def heard good things on the falkens. Someth8ng funny. I saw another Tacoma in the McDonald’s drive thru double lanes yesterday morning and I have never looked and tried to read the tire model so hard lol. I wasn’t able to make it out bc it was raining and messy. And I’m sure the owner was prob like bro u got a problem !? It’s so funny how much u notice things like that when ur have tires on the brain! Can’t wait to see the product bud !

I would look at the Toyo AT III. People seem to be happy with them in wet and snow.

you're killing me!.....I was already sold on the Falken Wildpeak A/T3w until you posted this......and it looks like the Toyo AT III are very similar in looks but lighter then the Falkens and a 65,000 miles warranty instead of a 55,000.....and I'm pretty much sold on the 255/70 R17 size.....due to load rating and weight concerns.....

The biggest difference is the Toyos are 37-39 lbs each(different info from different websites) versus 42.3lbs for the Falkens..........the Toyos have a 65,000 miles warranty (for P metric) compared to the 55,000 mile warranty for the Falkens........even though the Falkens have a 10% higher treadwear spec......and the Toyo's seem about $10 each cheaper per tire.....

Again, I drive 95% on road but want a good street tire but can handle the wet and snow......but needs to look "beefy"........hard try to buy tires these days cuz everyone has their own opinion!!!

I ordered the Toyo's from America's tire and they should be in stock to mount in about a day or 2......and they said if I hate they way they look then I don't have to buy them......nice perk as no one has them in stock to compare side by side with the Falkens......

Meanwhile.......yep, the tire lost air from the screw and patch job from yesterday.......it went to far onto the sidewall I guess......I'll air it up and drive it very carefully until the new tires arrive.......

my existing Bridgstone Dueler HL Alenza Plus in the 265/65R17 size are 30.6" tall, 10.7" wide and are 39lbs each........sooooooooo, the Toyo's will be 31.1" tall and .50 narrower at 10.2" and 37-39 lbs each(different info from different websites)........so hopefully MPG's will be similar?!

    Toyo ATIII Tire Specs

lolol!!...I'm sick of looking at tires!!....every tire has a good points and bad points and every size and brand varies in load rating and weight.......tooooooo much info to digest for the average Joe.......and I'm starting to waaaaaaay over think it!!!.....I posted another reply below......I ordered the Toyo A/T III's.......is only a fricking tire for goodness sake........I'm going get the new ones mounted and keep the existing ones and see what happens.....I can always sell the existing ones on Offerup for cheap.....

@MarcM .....thanks for the recommendation to go with the Toyo Open Country A/T III......great tire all round.......looks, performance on dry and wet (raining all day today), ride quality and price..........I'm glad I choose these "mild" A/T tires and hopefully they'll last a long time (65,000 mile warranty)......size was perfect as well......255/70R17 S/L........half inch taller and half inch narrower but I can't tell that they're any narrower and the look great for height and width.......I just had to remove the little "front of the front tire mud flap thingy" as I rubbing at full turn.....no biggy and I don't want or need a lift as I'm a 2wd and drive 95%+ on road and maybe an occasional dirt road or a trip to the snow......and yes, they look "beefy" enough on the sidewall......not quite as aggressive on the sidewall as the BFG KO2's but not bad at all IMO.....well worth the $172 each from America's Tire!

Good job man! They do look slightly more aggressive tread wise but not super mean.

For the first year and a half my KO'2 were great wet, dry, winter driving up here in the Pac NW.
Today we are having a lot of rain and humidity is high.
They lost traction doing a steady break into a stop light. Good thing no one was in front of me.
Accelerating lightly around a corner and the back wheels spun some.
Wife wants to get rid of them and I only have about 6000 miles on them. I do agree with her.
They look bad ass but if they can't stop quick in rainy weather they will have to go.
Back to the Cooper S/T Maxx for me I believe.
