Hello, I have an opportunity to upgrade my 2015 TRD Sport (with 26k miles) to a 2017 TRD Sport (both manual transmission) for $6,900. I was wondering if you guys think it is worth the upgrade or I'm better off sticking with my 2015? Type away!

I'm surprised the price difference is that much.

yeah youre probably better off selling your truck on craigslist and then going to the dealership with your fat wad of cash... That sounds like a ripoff to me

Do it. 3rd gens are better vehicles. Don't let this forums trolls discourage you.

2nd Gens are mighty fine vehicles. Keep it or trade it. You can't lose

Or that^ especially in the manual theres not going to be any difference between the two. Biggest difference outside of the redesign between third gen and second gen are crawl control and other traction stuff on the A/Ts. M/Ts are virtually no different.

Im certainly not hating on the third gen, I love it and its a great truck, just saying theres gonna be almost no difference between a 2nd gen manual and a third gen manual. The A/Ts got all the new tech goodies and they all have the wireless phone charging and the bed-mounted power system

Does crawl control come on the Sport or the Off Road only

    First answer these two questions:
#1 - What exactly do you think a 2017 TRD Sport will let you do that your 2015 TRD Sport does not allow?
#2 - How much longer will you be making loan payment if you do this, and how much money does that represent on top of the cited $7000 figure?
#3 - Is it worth $7000 (plus additional payments) to you to be able to whatever is the answer to #1?

Generally speaking, spending thousands of dollars to update two model years isn't often a wise financial decision.

Keep the 2015 unless you just got $6,900 burning a hole in your pocket... Just based on the money to me it doesn't make sense since your truck is still so new.

Crawl control is only for Off-road and TRD pro. This only applies to autos. Manuals don't have it.

That's what I though so he's looking at a Sport so the Crawl Control isn't even in the equation

If it is a well running 2nd gen I would not trade it, but I usually keep my vehicles for 10+ years. That being said I have friends that change cars weekly it seems. If you were in the market for a new vehicle to begin with I would get a 3rd gen, 2015's interior feels like it was designed in the early 2000s.

Far better to invest the $6900 somewhere and have it for emergencies or house downpayment or even retirement.

Exactly. He'd be dropping $6k for the redesign and nicer interior. Only truly functional upgrades is a slightly deeper bed, auto sliding rear glass, and a better diff gear ratio. Obviously the tech upgrades are there too.

    OA

    Edit: closer to 7k.

OP- keep the 2015. If you really want to spend the money on a truck buy kings or something.
