    not much yet!
Not sure if they all do it or not, but the Sherwin Williams stores in my area carry and can mix automotive paint into a spray can. I believe some Car Quests and Napa stores can do it as well. I would just call around a bit and ask.

I called my sherwin williams store and they said they can make the paint but they can’t put it in aerosol, so no luck in that department since I really don’t want to roller paint my truck.

If it was mine to deal with I would probably sand the rust off, and smooth out any peeling paint, hit the area that has exposed metal with a can of primer and wrap the roof with a black 3m wrap of your choice.

Edit: Clear out of a can will fade fast especially being on the roof and will just leave you in a similar position in a few years. Wrap is easy to install, wouldn't take more than an hour to do the roof and also cheaper in the long run, even if you rewrap it every 2-3 years

Wraps don't stick to rust very well. I had my roof done to prevent this exact thing from happening and it seemed about half the install time was them just cleaning the roof really good.

I am not sure about the paint type, but sanding and rattle-caning is a quick, cheap and viable option for a couple years until you can get it properly fixed.

http://www.ospho.com/ This works good .But don't let it get wet before it dries . Will stain area .Also if using duplicolor touch up paint might want to clear with 2K clear in aerosol you can pick up from auto paint supply stores .Way more durable and more gloss .If going to do all that labor that extra money on that clear would be worth it .

Man you can do it. I painted my rear bumper with no prior experience. Do you have somewhere to store the truck out of the weather ? You can at least get it primed and the rust off and sealed.

it doesn't sound like you are worried about being perfect, so i would just sand, clean, mask off the roof and spray away with duplicolor and not worry about blending the masking lines.

Automotive touch up sells a great oem color matched paint in a can. Use spraymax 2k clear and it will look brand new. If you're going to go through the trouble of prep work, might as well use high quality materials for a perfect finish. It'll probably run you around $80 for the aforementioned primer, base coat and clear.

YouTube is also your friend. Great technique can make average paint look good and great paint look fantastic.

Roller and rustoleaum black really isn't a bad option but you will have to colorsand the hell out of it then polish.

I’ve found SEM rattlecan paints to be some of the easiest to spray. With only a bit of care you’ll have it looking fine.

But do something — that roof panel needs to be protected!

I'd take the truck to a couple of paint shops and tell them you'll be looking for a shop to paint it in the near future and ask what they recommend you do in the interim to stop more rust forming, but not create more problems for a future paint job. With hope of getting the future paint job they will hopefully be willing to give you some professional tips.

In my opinion, at a bare minimum you need to neutralize the existing rust or it will get worse. I probably would not sand it off now as you'll just expose more bare metal to the elements. Get a solution from an auto paint store to do the neutralization, they should have a good product (perhaps the auto paint shops can make a recommendation). After you neutralize the rust spray it with a primer/sealer (again, ask the auto body shop/auto paint store if you need a self etching primer or what would be best). The primer/sealer will not be a permanent fix so ask about something to cover that as well until you can get it painted. I'd use what the professionals suggest as the best interim solution to stop the problem getting worse.

Have it Rinolined in the same color,or have it painted by a shop.Nothing says CHEAP like painting your truck with a rattlecan.

Light sand, prime, clear coat then plasti dip it flat black. That's what I would do. Or spend the $ on a respray
