If it's of any help a 15-20 pound difference and size upgrade from stock to 255/85R16 cost me 3L/100km or so or very roughly 4mpg. You'll definitely see a drop, at least 1 mpg with Wildpeaks, and a lot more with Ridge Grapplers because they're E ply with 265/75s

Weight matters, dont let anyone tell you different, I've had them all, C rated, E rated, SL rated, all terrains, ridge grapplers, mud terrains, Nitto, Open Country and KO2s. Weight matters.

Totally agree. But as others have said all over this forum, we didn’t but these vehicles for their fuel efficiency. Ha

Agree, but E rated on our trucks, stock suspension and for what most of us use them for here is overkill and the truck handles like sh*t, but thats an unpopular opinion with the KO2 Bro Pro gang here.

It is a compromise. You might get slightly better MPGs, but you take a hit in durability. You can get even better mileage by just going 5mph slower on the highway.

I've had E rated 265/75r16s on my 2004 since I bought it in 2005. I've never gotten a flat, on or off road.

Thicker sidewalls perform better offroad as well because they do better with lower tire pressure and are less likely to fold over, and it's harder to puncture them. So if you off road with your OR, I'd opt towards E rated tires. Heavy, sure, but these are 4x4 trucks. If your primary concern is MPGs, you shoulda gotten a Prius, lol...

Lol damn KBROS. They’re ok, but there are way more options out there. Just as you said though, unpopular

E rated handle like sh*t on stock setup for daily driving, sh*t braking performance, sh*t ride quality, sh*t mpg, sure more durable, but the trade offs are not worth it for what most use the truck for. I can get tire certificates for $100 for all 4 of mine, not to mention most the ATs have a decent 60k mile warranty.

I'm far from a Pro gang member, but I am a fan of E rated tires, and you could definitely call me a BFG fanboi. They are hardly "overkill" by any stretch of the imagination.

One of my main gripes about the newer Tacomas is the stupidly skinny and treadless tires they come with. They're better suited for my wife's Corolla. For being the best offroading truck available, they sure put some shit tires on them. But they do it to try and meet fleet MPG standards, not because they're a good match for the truck's capabilities.

I've had E rated tires for 15 years on my 1st gen, and they 100% do NOT handle like shit. My '17 4Runner handles like shit, IMO because of those weak ass tires it came with. Can't wait for them to wear down.

They look great, but not a fan, balancing issues, terrible in snow/wet conditions and heavy.

Gonna agree to disagree. I've ran both on my 3rd gens. I've offroad plenty in AZ (wanna talk about potential puncture risk) on stock goodyear kevlars without an issue. The KO2s killed my gas mileage and the heavy E rating on a light mid size truck made it handle like sh*t, my kidneys took a beating on rough roads, breaking was terrible, handling in wet conditions sh*t, balancing issues. Not worth it.

The whole E rate tire whining and complaining is overblown. I have K-Bros pumped up to 40 PSI and they ride fine. Who knows maybe some people have hemorrhoids, bladder leakage or bad joints and need a soft tire. In that case they should have bought an Avalon

No, but be REALLY concerned about load rating. Greater than C is too stiff for our trucks in my opinion.

K, Bro. Its a stiffer / heavier tire, it will decrease handling, sorry but your opinions or feelings don't beat physics.

It's true, but maybe I should trade my truck in every year so I can ride on a fresh set of goodyears.

Not even gonna touch that sh*t attempt from you. And usually swap them out at some point or not, just like trucks, because I can...

That's new news to me, I was looking at which tires to get two years ago and they only came in LT E ply at the time. I'm glad they're changing things finally.
