This recent used 5k mi trade in is the color trim year I want- 2020 cement off road. It has the TRD premium off road package option including: LED DRLs, heated front cloth seats, moonroof (I think), technology package (blind spot monitoring w/ rear cross traffic alert)
Asking price is $37,xxx (not including tax/tags/fees)
    MSRP is $42,xxx

This one is near by and after the test drive tomorrow I think I should pull the trigger before someone else does- Agree?

4WD? I thought the new TRD models came with leather seats? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Sounds like it has the Premium Audio and Dynamic Nav package. That includes heated cloth seats, auto headlights, dual zone climate control, but no moonroof. If that's the case, those were around $43-44k MSRP new. I almost went with that package, but it was hard to find within a reasonable driving distance.

I would normally say for just a little more you could get a new one, but they're becoming a little scarce right now. Is the $37k just their advertised price? Or is that after negotiating with them?

The lower priced ones or even new ones for 35k don’t have the premium package added on

37k is internet price. Last time I haggled over a 2018 sport a couple weeks ago they only would go down $700 after I offered $1600

Drive it, do you like it, does it run like you expect it to, i.e., like a new truck? If you feel it's worth it, go and start haggling for a little better price.
Looks like a great truck to me. Give it a hard look over, that's a good bit of dough for an even slightly used truck....

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
I love mine this far (all 506 miles old). Do me a favor though, as soon as you buy it stop looking through various posts with mods; you will go broke-er.

Price seems reasonable for various options. What's more important is you can afford it and are buying what you want.

I suggest you ask why a 2020 with 5k on it was traded... If you are dealing with a good dealer, they will be honest with you. Take what they say with a grain of salt, but maybe it's worth the question.

They may come off that price some, but that depends on region and what the dealer inventories look like in your area. It ultimately comes down to whether or not it’s the truck you want and if you’re comfortable with the price. Test drive it, negotiate, take your time.

It looks like a good truck. As long as it checks off all the boxes for you, there’s no reason not to pursue it.

Ya I WOULD ask why for sure. Find out when it was purchased. This year or end of last. So you can see how fast those miles where put on. 5k is pretty darn low by itself. When I bought my 18’ it had 3 miles on it. At 5k miles I was still calling my truck brand new

    Is it CPO?
I just got a 2019 sport with a few nice additions (not factory) for 31,400 with 3,000 miles before taxes title fees. It wasn’t CPO because it was from a different dealer. If it’s CPO and it was MSRP 44,000 and you get it for 37,000 that’s 16% off MSRP with a 100,000 warranty in the color you like- id jump all over it.

if it’s 42,000 MSRP you’re still around 12% off MSRP which isn’t terrible.
Check out the thread “what are you paying for your 2020 Tacoma” Aside from a lot of the fake numbers like a member above posted you will find some good detail data aside from a lot of the fake numbers like a member above posted you will find some good detail data that on a new Tacoma shooting for 12-15% off MSRP with or without the rebate is about the best you can do. Granted this one is used and doesn’t apply apples to apples- but if you get an extended warranty that’s a nice bonus

Its cheaper, has more features, and now less miles than my 2020 white trd OR 6MT. I bought mine in feb and will be paying more than that. 5k seems like very few miles to trade in on.

It was registered Feb ‘20 so they only had it 4 mo. It was a trade in but I will ask why today, hope to get an honest answer. Advertised msrp is 42k. Not listed as CPO but will ask.
    Will update post test drive.

Good luck, I'd probably try and get it a bit lower. I get the possibility of a multitude of reasons to trade, but Feb. to June with 5K miles still forms a reasonable basis to ask some questions to ensure nothing is wrong with the truck.
