The set pictured are 0 offset meaning 4.75" backspacing.
Fwiw, I am considering replacing them with -10 offset (4.36" offset) to avoid running spacers and mitigating rub at full lock.
I genuinely feel like 17s are pushing it on the 1st gens aesthetically but my buddy hooked it up with the rims so is what it is :notsure:
The reduced sidewall is definitely noticeable on twisty mountain roads..

Sorry for not letting this thread die, but I just doom-scrolled 10-years worth of wheel pictures ...

↑↑ Anyone have a part number for these all-black TRD rims? I'm thinking maybe they just painted the machined lip?

↑↑ I found the P/N for these with the machined lip (black = PTR56-35220-F2), the below ones in bronze (PTR56-35220-F5)↓↓, and P/N for the gray/gunmetal version (PTR56-35220-F3).

EDIT: I'm confused ... If you look closer at the top 4Runner image, they look like they don't actually have the beadlock rim on them, making them real beadlocks? Can you run true beadlocks without the ring? Also, I didn't realize Toyota made real beadlocks (I'm no Toyota parts expert). In short, even if those pictured are real beadlocks, my minimal research tells me PTR56-35220-F2 "with beadlock ring styling" are still the only US road-legal version of these black wheels.

    It's paint.
The original color is Mystic Purple, but the Arizona sun killed the clear coat.
My daughter painted it an ugly lilac color and then got tired of old truck repairs.
I bought it from her (because I always wanted it), couldn't stand the color she painted it, and repainted it Rustoleum Matt Electric Purple...and that's spray canned.
I can do touch ups now when ever it gets pin striped playing around on trails and what not.

Aluminum wheels were the worst change I've made, you can't straighten them once bent. Street or mall crawling they are fine.

Go with basic steel wheels with the offset you want. I regret selling my steel wheels, but I also drive my truck hard in the rocks. I've destroyed an aluminum set in two trips.

I’m bias - love the OEM steelie look. Have a brand new 16x7 15mm offset available if anybody is interested - I’ll post in FS once I’m able to.

these are 15x7. Was going to go 255/85/16 with a 16” set but decided to hold off as life has me traveling in my truck often for work (lineman). Plus I’m a year I may SAS it so that too lol

wasn’t a cost thing - just don’t like wasting money. No sense in regearing now when it’s a freeway queen.

plans changed a lot this year in many different ways (good ways)

the real question will be, what is your intention after the SA. Depending on your end goal, a SA will not be the best choice for a DD. With that being said, maybe consider having a secondary or third vehicle and use the SA Tacoma when desired. Between the wife and I, we have 4 vehicle. The SA Tacoma sees less and less mileage each year. One year to date, the Tacoma received a total of 895 miles. 98% from hunting and off-roading, not a trailer queen even with it being on 40s and now 42s. Prior to the SA, I drove it about 3k-4k miles annually.

it’s only a daily right now because I’m too busy to go grab 3/4 ton and a camper. My wife doesn’t travel with me ATM and I’m a frugal fuck, so here we are… by the time that day comes it won’t be a daily. It sits garaged when I’m home 2-3 months out of the year.

but who knows maybe I’ll find an 80s donor by chance and change my mind!

either way I didn’t want to prematurely regear for 285/55.
