I had to make/build the brackets to mount to the bed rack. Repurposed countertop support brackets, ha. Drilling 1/2" steel sucks too.

Anyone have a 4 or 5 footer from CVT or OVS? Or even the cheap Yescom one from EBay that seems to be popular?

I’m really just trying to find out how sturdy the legs/poles are. I don’t need a big expensive one that will hold up in crazy weather. We really just like them for a kitchen setup with covered proximity to the truck. I’ve got some hanging kitchen gear that we love but I’m usually just stringing rope everywhere lol. Figured these poles could act as a solid place to hang everything. Let me know! TIA!

So, I'm new to this, and am curious what the purpose of putting recovery boards under the tires is for. I've seen others do it with wood and what not too. Just for a level surface? Are you parking long time?

Running the Rhino Rack dome, works great for my needs for now. Great headroom even for being mounted low. held up to some pretty strong wind on the beach this day also.

Has anyone installed an awning to a roof rack by just using the L Brackets that come with the awning? I'm sure it'll hold up fine and it looks like most brackets / mounts for my prinsu are $70-$90+

Is this just to get a low profile look or for added stability? I might end up buying some expensive brackets but not sure if they're needed or not. Thanks!

Alucab shadow awning mounted to a four wheel camper swift with Mule Brackets. The brackets are not strong enough to deploy the awning without the leg, modification required.

My Rhino-Rack Dome awning has been attached to my Mobtown Offroad bed rack 80/20 bars using the L brackets that came with the awning for two years and I've had no issues. If the included L brackets fit your set up I'd see no reason to buy something else.

New bed rack, used the ovs awning brackets this time around. Slight modification but they worked out great!20220205_090335.jpg

Actually, I use my Yakima HD to quick attach a tarp when I want a little shelter. The HD bars have a spot to hook things at the ends. I bought a light weight camping tarp that is 60" wide (matches my bars), attached D links to it and then bought to extendable poles. The tarp (96x60) folds up very small and, along with the poles and guy lines, fits nicely in the storage under my back seats.

I attached to the back so it covers the tailgate area.

Yes, I've strung a tarp between two trucks to make shade before. Trees would work too, but there isn't an abundance of those on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

i went with an Ironman 4x4 6 footer. Hangs over the roof rack a bit, but i wanted the extra coverage. Sets up and breaks down super easy.
