    For some, camp food is purely fuel while for others the days are planned around meals. I am the latter and know nothing tastes as good as it does when cooked @ camp. My camp kitchen changes depending on how many people in feeding, but even when solo. Let's share our ideas for future outings

    no pics right now but a couple of my go to camp meals...

    "taco scramble"
    basically tacos but instead of shells (they always get broken/shredded no matter how good you pack) i use cornbread muffins.
    bake the muffins at home, freeze if its gonna be a few days before you use them.
    pack whatever taco meat/seasoning and other fixin's of your choosing
    throw a cornbread muffin in a bowl and break it up, add all the fixin's and enjoy.
    taco sauce / salsa is a must as the bread can make everything else a little dry

    "baked salmon"
    tin foil is your best friend for camp cooking - no clean up!

    - tin foil
    - salmon filet - skin on if possible
    - EVOO
    - S & P
    - rosemary & thyme
    - sliced lemons

    drizzle a little EVOO in the foil
    place salmon on foil, skin down
    drizzle a little more EVOO on top
    sprinkle with S & P and rosemary & thyme
    lay lemon slices over the top
    seal up the foil to make a little pouch
    cook over the fire/oven/stove until flesh is firmed up. you know you did it right if you can slide a fork between the meat and the skin all stays stuck to the foil.

    i usually pair that with some rice (risotto if i'm feeling fancy) and veggies

    "broccoli chicken casserole"
    a one pot wanna be chicken pot pie.
    for two large servings, double/triple if needed
    cube up two chicken breasts.
    brown the chicken in a large pot until no longer pink. (or cook the chicken at home and then freeze for quicker camp cooking time)
    in a bowl mix up:
    one can cream of chicken soup
    1 cup each instant rice and water
    1/2 tsp each thyme, sage, paprika, black pepper
    pour rice/soup mixture over cooked chicken
    add one bag each of frozen carrots and broccoli florets (or other veggies of choice) over that
    cover with a lid and simmer until rice is cooked
    *important - leave the veggies on top to steam cook. do not stir once the veggies are added. the rice cooks better if its left on the bottom of the pot*

    Sub’d for ideas. When it’s just me I try to keep it as simple as possible. Make things at home, freeze them and reheat in the field. If the whole family is along they aren’t impressed with my simple ways and want something a little fancier.

    its favorite of mine. i make it at home too. easy to make enough for 2 or 10.

    tin foil packs and one pot meals are my go-to for most camp cooking.

    I've found simple is best. Here are my favorites.

    My go to breakfast burrito
    Depending on how many people I'm feeding, I found this recipe was good for 2 big boys.
    Brown 1 Tube chorizo in pan. Then add 4ish eggs, scrambled to the cooked chorizo amd cook until eggs are done. Divide onto Tortillas with cheese, chilis, avocado.... whatever you like in yours.
    Cook frozen tater tots (pro tip) in pan until crispy and add to Tortillas. Roll up burrito and return burrito to pan to toast.
    Devour. ,

    Philly cheese steak. (Again, 2 big boys)
    Big 'ol sandwich rolls.
    Sautee 1/2 an onion sliced and 1/2 bell pepper.
    Once cooked to your liking add about 1/2lb deli sliced roast beef, cut into strips. Cut the bread and put on top of mixture to steam the roll. Add cheese into mixture (Shredded cheese is fastest and multipurpose fpr other meals. I like mozzarella but will use whatever is in the fridge when I go) stir until melted. Divide into rolls. If you can resist the urge to chow down, return the sandwich to the pan and toast the bread.....or just eat.

    i like to do as much prep at home as possible. faster camp cook time and less clean up to deal with out there.
    pre cook your meat at home and then freeze in ziplocs if possible.
    slice up veggies and store in ziplocs

    tin foil is amazing and has always been a staple in my camp kitchen.
    precooked/microwavable bacon is my latest camp must have. 10 seconds on the grill and you're GTG, no greasy mess to clean up

    Was on a trip a few years ago that the guy with the gloves on in the back brought a whole ass propane turkey fryer in the back of his FJ, and we all brought a dish as well for a Thanksgiving potluck. Some were prepped at home, and some were cooked onsite with just gas stoves and the like.

    The Coleman propane oven also is a star for ultra fancy camp cooking.

    also, you can last a whole weekend with some Aidells sausage and some tortillas. Andouille is good, but the mango jalapeno ones are the top spot for me right now.

    Add eggs and fixings in the AM gets you a killer breakfast burrito, add some cheese and eat cold as an on the go lunch wrap, heat and serve on a tortilla with some baked beans for dinner.

    I'll grill some carne asada at home and then cut it into small chunks and bag it for camp. Once at camp I squeeze a couple of limes and re cook it on a pan/skillet and ready for tacos.

    Well on a rainy day when I was camping in Fruita area I made a giant pocket pizza out of hamburger meat and bisquick. It was pretty good.
