They don't offer a fold down window with boxes for that reason

Oh ok. The local ARE dealer was telling me I could add tool boxes, aluminum panel doors, fold in windows, windoors, etc. to any model except the Z. I was anticipating them to tell me I had to order the ARE HD to get the tool boxes.

$2300 out the door sounds about right. I added sliding windoors on both sides $200 each plus the sportsman’s package $185 I think and the fold down sliding front $125ish and got the free upgraded pro lock and mine out the door came to $3K.

You can order it that way anyways. My ARE MX has a driver side toolbox and fold down. It has just enough room to squeeze my arm in there to clean the windows.

I just posted in another thread, but I figured I'd cross-post here to show off the inside of my ARE MX so far. It's an awesome shell, I can't wait to build out the interior. Below is what I posted in that thread:

I added the toolbox on the driver side, it was worth every penny. I have tools and some recovery gear sorted. Dog stuff and kid stuff is mixed in there too:

Rear hatch. The glass door opens, or the entire rear end lifts up like a giant SUV. I use the glass door more than the big hatch, but the hatch is great for loading up a rack worth of servers for work or a bunch of boxes for work.

My bumper's a SOS Offroad Concepts HC rear. I am doing some custom work on the swingout, so I haven't put it on yet. The license plate usually mounts on a flip-up bracket over the trailer hitch; I removed that bracket because I use the hitch a lot.

Here's a panorama of the interior. I'm squatting, there's TONS of headroom. Note the toolbox is open on the top to the camper... When I make the camp platform, I'm going to box that in with wood and build an interior cabinet up there.

On the front window of the topper, I ordered a tilt-down slider. It was extra for the option, but I wanted it to clean out the rear cab window. The window flips down just enough for me to stick my arm in there to clean the windows before it hits the toolbox. The dealer was hesitant, but I insisted.

I considered doing two toolboxes, but I am glad I didn't. If you look at the panorama, you can see the toolbox blocks the rear window almost completely. One is a great compromise because you can get a foxwing awning on that side and have coverage over the hatch and the camping gear for outside right there, without taking up too much interior room. I have a 2.5m square foxwing on order that should arrive by the end of July. I'm excited to eventually get it on there when I have time.

Had the shell since December, and I'm still pretty pleased with it.

Leer 100xr with dual sliding windoors and rack tracks.

Thoughts so far, windoors, windoors, windoors. If you're debating if you should or shouldn't, you should. Honestly one of the best and most useful mods on the entire truck.

I haven't had to many leak issues, but if I pressure wash the truck I can push water in through the sliding windows and crack around the lower corners of the back glass. The seal from shell to bed is actually pretty good on mine.

I have had to remove the shell, reseal, and secure with an extra bolt through the bedrails on each side. We had a wonderful experience where we did about 2 miles offroad up a slight incline only to get out and notice the shell had slid backwards about 2". Real heartstopper moment. Easy fix on the trail but we wanted more secure mounting after that.

As for the weight limits of the shell, I haven't seen any damage, fatigue, or fractures in the shell. We have done well over 500 miles offroad with the tent and easily 7-10,000 miles with it up top without issue. I sopke with my Leer dealer and was told 250 lb dynamic load capacity would be warrantied by them through Leer. With the tent and rack I'm well well below that.

Would it be do it again? Yep. Pretty happy overall. It's not a perfect factory for and finish, but it has improved the versatility and usability of the truck dramatically for me as a daily and on trips.

In all seriousness though, that is an absolute spotless interior.

Here in L.A., ARE's are taking up to three months, so you're pretty much limited to Leer and Snugtop. It seems that many of the other brands are gone now. IMG_2625_1300px.jpg I went with Snugtop because I liked their locking system better and for a buck and a half extra, I could get the lock integrated into the truck's keyless remote system. And I chose the Highliner as, as a photographer, I'm always loading crap and lots of it and the headroom alone it worth it. Pretty perfect color match and very solid.

Bajaracks sell custom brackets for the cap rails. One piece sits in the track, while a plate gets welded to your rack/basket, then the bracket bolts to the plates and sleves in the tracks. I have an extra set of 6 ill be sellingBaja plates.jpg Standard10.jpg 20180717_120116.jpg 20180717_120037.jpg

I’m now part of the club. I picked up a used clean ARE V-series for $600.
I haven’t had a chance to connect the 3rd brake light.

I’m asking for some suggestions/advice. Is there a quick connect to connect the 3rd brake light to the tail light? Also when you install your cover did you remove the bed side rails covers??
I also need to pickup a new seal that goes between the cover & bed rails.
