I have a ton of door dings and rubs on my sliders from idiots. They absolutely help with that kind of thing

Sure, they can prevent door dings in specific certain situations but definitely not all. Angles, height, door shape, slope etc. Way to many variables to have a blanket statement of "door ding protection". They are far to expensive to be marketed as such as well. Just a point I've been trying to make when people use this blanket anecdotal statement or a purchase bias for 700$+ sliders that won't ever see a trail or a real contact. You know, what they were made for.. Hence the comparison with the stiffeners. Can they help? Sure. Is it guaranteed to prevent bed damage? Absolutley not. Far to many variances between owners and use to conclude anything.

The OP just wants to see some pictures of damage caused as a result of not having stiffeners.

I’d say damage is most likely to be caused by someone strapping their dirt bike or lumber etc to the side rails rather than using the floor mounted tie downs.

I don’t think anyone is trying to make the argument that sliders prevent door dings. I always read people saying that they help to prevent them.

We know... but think about what he's asking for.... Say a guy straps his ATV or dirt bike to the bed sides... Way too tight... hits a bump and crack... bed sides fold or whatever the f#$%.... Homeboy is gonna take that scenario and say "yup, should have gotten bed stiffeners"? Maybe... Should he? I dont know... See the issue?

Same token... Me... My truck is a circus of shit.... I've had bed stiffeners for a long time... can I reasonably infer say i haven't suffered damage due to the stiffeners? Nah... maybe.... who knows... hard tellin not knowin LOLOLOLOLOLOL

    Is it Friday, yet?

I think you're missing my point and comparison. They can prevent door dings. Yeah, you always read here on TW that it's like a magic force field of protection. Bolt them on and you'll never get another door ding again. It's ridiculous and part of the stupid word of mouth thing here on TW. Just like the stiffeners as of recently. Word of mouth that it will prevent bed damage where there is no real evidence of them doing do. It's all subjective.

You want to see a strong bed? This was my 83 short bed SR5 4x4 and those are 12 foot 2x12's. I hauled them over 100 miles. Bed was perfect. I wish my 2017 had the same build quality.

Chances are you won’t have any problems unless you are wheeling with a camper shell for 12 years. Replaced my bed because the supports were cracking and this deal was too good to be true

I bought sliders for rocks... and they have protected me from rocks.... i've had a lady open her door while i was in my truck and she hit my slider.... i thought... slider saved me... thats cool.... a reasonable person doesnt report back to the TW fishbowl "Sliders save doors from dents... no, no.... they save liiiiivvves"

hahahaha you're right... its all subjective
