I've always heard you shouldn't rest your hand on the shifter/knob. Since the driveline is mounted differently/separately to the frame from the cab, you (and your hand) move and bounce around differently from it and so you actually end up putting pressure on the forks, bushings, etc. from that if you are holding it "in place" in reference to your body and cab position. I don't think I explained it very well, but he goes into it some in this video from EE. It is the first thing on the list so first in the video.

I usually keep my hand very loosely around the knob so I'm not restricting it as I go through the gears (obviously actually need to grab it when shifting) and then once I'm topped out I try to pull my arm back and use the armrest and/or keep my hand on the steering wheel, so I'm not resting it on there.

it was a total favorite, loved it. i changed from URD to the Core shifter and changed to a light knob. the Core doesn't like it heavy.

Understood, and yes I knew that. At the same time though, the shifter rattling around because of the added weight would be just as bad, no? It did move a bit with the stock knob but it is much more pronounced with the added weight.

Do you mean rattling around as in making actually noise or just moving around/bouncing/jiggling? Mine really bounces around (from my perspective inside the cab), especially going over bumps and rough roads, but I always assume that is just because the driveline and transmission are bouncing around differently from me and the cab. So I don't pay too much mind to it. But if it is making noise, that could be a different and more annoying beast...

No noise, just bouncing and jiggling.

Even with the grey TRD knob that I use, which is pretty light I think, mine does seem to bounce around quite a bit, especially on rough roads, potholes, etc. as I said. So I don't think it is too much to worry about. I assume that is just the transmission bouncing around and better to let the shifter move freely in sync with relation to that than to restrict it. At least that is how I picture things in my head, so I go with it. o_O

Curious does the heavy weight knob take away or slow down the quick "snap back to center" effect of the shifter? Ya know, the way it will spring back to center in the middle if the gates.

Good luck with getting that knob from Anarchy Motive. I've been waiting on mine for over a year. He used to reply to my emails with nothing but excuses. If you research on other forums, he' s got a reputation for taking customer's money and not providing a product, especially if you complain with repeated emails about wait times. I would avoid this fraud at all costs. It's a gamble whether you ever get your ordered knob and when you request a refund he stops communicating with you.

i was expecting someone to post this.

the item i linked is for sale from inventory and is on sale. you'll get it in a few days. regarding custom orders, i agree that you would be a fool to do a custom with them. i'm one of the fools, although it worked out for me. that red knob i posted was a free gift from him for the custom one that was taking months.

Yeah I paid like $120 for a custom knob last January. I was very patient as i knew he takes a long time fabricating the knobs but took a chance bc he does great work. 6 months in I started to email him with responses like: "its finishing up... done in a couple weeks...getting ready to mail it" only to never receive it. I kept emailing him every couple months until he stopped responding. I got inpatient 3 months ago and asked for a refund and ...crickets. No response now several emails later.

His reputation is EXACTLY as others have reported on the forums. He essentially runs a shady business, steals money and occasionally will produce good custom knobs IF HE GETS AROUND TO IT. I would avoid using this CLOWN since you risk losing your money. Many have reported him to the better business bureau in St Louis but since he runs an internet based business, it's hard to recover your loss since its across state lines.

Whenever I'm in the St Louis area, however, I plan on visiting this thief. His address for those who are interested:

Currently have the Billetworkz Sledge knob (1 Kg/ 2.2 lbs). Like the heavy weighted feel but the knob is very big. Billetworkz has a great selection (sphere, tear drop, piston) with ability to order custom knobs. They screw into the OEM stick shifter. Nice option for those who want a knob with some weight. Received it in a couple weeks.
