Some updated pics. I have a Leer 100R and hope to inspire you to use your cap to its full potential. For me its all about getting the most out of my cap. Besides the weatherproof bed interior function, I added a custom safari basket to Thule bars on top, then the possibilities were endless.. I owe it all to the topper.

Was just driving down the street passing some dude mowing the lawn and hear strange sound. Look back and see a bunch of shiny pieces of something falling on the road. "Wtf is this guy mowing?" I thought.... just to realize that those shiny pieces falling on the road were from my exploded tempered glass side window. Fuck me.

yeah, waiting for the local Leer dealer to open, but I estimated the amount or suckage to be around $300-$350. I also bought the shell used, so there is 0 warranty on it

I was passing by a guy mowing a lawn when it happened, so it's possible that a rock shot from under the mower or something and broke the glass. I dunno. Apparently there are a few Leer owners with exploded side windows....

Sucks man... I've heard some crazy stories about lawn mowing accidents with things shooting out from underneath...

I even avoid parking near lawns because of this. Also keep a few cars between me and any kind of construction vehilce (concrete mixers, bottom dumps, etc.)

I don't think that glass is flat thought, which is part of why it is so expensive. Dealer told me the rear door glass is $500.

I was just talking to my local dealer about repainting the used XQ I just bought, and he says you can just remove the side windows by undoing the self-tapping screws on the inside. Whole frame should come out. Probably a 2-person job. Could at least save you labor cost.

This is true. I've seen it done three times on my own shell.

I'd try and source a new window and bypass the shell shops.

That does suck and I am sorry to hear that that happened. There are other window options.

I am not sure this is a route you are interested in going but I removed my windows and made some Rotopax racks. You could make mounts for what ever you plan on carrying:

I just spent an hour browsing CL and I am starting to think that it may not be a bad idea to get another shell... maybe.

Something like the one below. I don't really give a shit about having transparent windows, but it would sure be nice to be able to access stuff in the bed from the side
This one if for long box, unfortunately, but the guy said he can get me a new for around $1200 or so. https://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/ptd/5204571693.html

I can probably sell mine even with the busted glass for at least $500-600

I am liking the look of these

Oh that reminds me, I should post this in here. My Craigslist score from Friday. Never thought it would happen.

Leer 100XQ in Mag Gray (I'll get it repainted), keyless entry, fold down front slider, Thule rails and crossbars. Listed for $1k, I got it for $900.

One of the window cranks is a bit dodgy, tuned out to just be the plastic splines on the inside of the know were stripped because the scissor action/track was dirty and getting stiff, just need to clean and lube that. I already got a replacement knob from the local Leer dealer.

Lacked a key for the rear latch (which had keyless option), but dealer had that too. A piece of the key latch was missing on the inside, and he replaced that too. Apparently this is a piece that commonly comes loose. It has a small phillips set screw that requires loctite. I'll take a pic if anyone is interested.

I had to adjust the driver side latch strike to get the back door to close and latch, and one of the side window bolts needed to be tightened.

The keyless wiring harness taped to the glass door had fallen off and needs to be resecured.

I need to wire the truck for brake light, dome light, and keyless entry. So I was at a different topper accessory dealer (got a set of the right clamps for $24) chatted the guys up for a while about wiring, asked if they would sell me a keyless harness. Owner said he would install for $89. I say OK, I'll keep that in mind, I'll take the clamps for today. We go outside and the young guy I talked to and the owner are checking out my truck, yak yak yak. My front door is open. The owner walks away, and the young guy flings something into my cab. I look at him "wut." He says "keyless harness." Wink. I shake his hand and say "thanks, have an awesome weekend" and jump in a drive off. :)

I get home, look honey, I got a $3k top-of-the line cap for $900. Another few hundred to paint. Thumbs up from camper mommy wife.

I didn't mention that I'll also have the rear bumper color matched at the same time. She doesn't need to worry her pretty little head about that.

Not a bad way to start the weekend.

Oh yeah, he also threw in a Bedrug, great shape. They go for well over $300 new. Doesn't include velcro that must be applied to the bed, of course. I don't want it, so I'll sell that to someone for...contributions toward cap paint. See link in sig...

Nice comeup. I had a similar CL experience. Bedrug, racks, shell. $800. I'm bummed that I had to choose the bed liner or the bed rug. I'm currently just using the bottom of the rug over the liner.
