Haha, yep gotta love em. How do you think it changed the attitude of my truck? I guess I always had his vision so it really hasn't changed for me I guess, not yet at least.

Does anyone know if they make this glass or similar for a short bed shell?

Vendor just called and said that LEER doesn't make the vented windoors for a short bed only long bed.

ARE makes a similar model. Don't like ARE myself but that's personal preference. Found this online. 0db6bbea037682e83e5ef5e4808d98d6_2decda01c62fb46d8a9fd6124fa5f27ad11f87c8.jpg

Speaking of shells.... I have the wiring coming up through the bed of the truck for my third brake light. My dog insist that the wiring is unnecessary. Any ideas on how to keep her from chewing up that wiring. How do you all have that wiring routed? I need it to be hidden so i don't have to keep redoing it.

Yeah, I'm interested too. I have yet to install all the wiring for the 3rd brake light, dome light, and auto lock harness.

In the first gen, it just came up from the cavity behind the tail light and through an opening in the sheet metal at the top near the bed rail.

Although I have not looked very hard yet, looks like I need to drill through the bedside on the 2nd gen.

Ragin cajun first thing that comes to mind for dog proofing is some flexible BX electrical conduit, and some conduit straps on the bedside to secure it, and possibly up the back pillar of the cap, too. The blocks of wood that the door hardware/hinges screw into on my Leer would seem the obvious choice, if you have some thing like that. Maybe even a small jbox in the middle to house the quick-release connector.

I have drilled a hole in the bed pillar behind the driver side brake light and there is about a 6" segment that is exposed and is then tucked away in the aluminum frame for my rear window. she keeps getting at that short exposed segment. I think that flexible conduit may be the ticket. Thats a good idea thanks. Is it metal or plastic?

That is odd that they don't offer them for the short beds. I recently bought a Century shell (who is owned by Leer) and they were offered for my short bed as a $350 option. The style looked similar to the A.R.E. one pictured above.

Here is the link to my local dealers site...look under the Century Hi shell listing and you can get a pic of it.

A.R.E didn't make that. What you are looking at doesn't exist because I created it in Photoshop three years ago! That very image! Haha!

I wanted to know what a DCSB A.R.E shell would look like with vented windoors. :D

I ended up with an A.R.E. MX shell with windoors, but no vents, they lied to me and after I placed an order called me and told me it couldn't be done. I ended up putting a roof vent in and all has been well. I love the shell.

My dealer also mentioned that they are available aftermarket should I change my mind down the line. They handle the swap out themselves so there is no need to send the shell back to Century...good luck in your quest.

Metal. When you said dog, I thought nothing but ABS plastic would be able to withstand those teeth, but ABS pipe generally comes in sizes to large to be practical in this application.

    This stuff:

You should be able to go to HD and look at various jboxes that are small, but large enough to contain the wiring connectors. Then figure out where it would make sense to mount it (plastic bedside right under rail is first thought), then look for appropriate connectors for the box to BX and run the BX wherever. Also look into some single-screw loop straps to secure it using existing fasteners on your cap's metal window/door trim or gas strut base plates.

Snugtop Rebel with roof carpet, roof light, bed carpet, tint, sliding windows with dog screens for 1k on craigslist. Saved about 50% going used. It's not perfect (some small scratches, normal wear), but buying new was too much $$. The guy bought his truck used and hated the shell. Win for budget boy.
