I had to take mine back once to get the latches fixed. Coming from an ARE with rod latches, I'm not a fan either. Now if they could only get the leak fixed. 3 times and still water inside

Which model? Is it framed, or frameless? I've recently tuned up the used 100XQ I bought. Mine wasn't popping open, but it wasn't latching shut without me putting pressure at each side. If they aren't solving it, there's probably some simple stuff you can do your self.

I think one of the issues is the the cap doors are straight, and the Tacoma tailgate has a very subtle curve to it. I solved that by installing a Relentless tailgate reinforcement plate.

Snugtop looks great! Like the set up on your rig. Wish we could get Snugtop out here.

One more thing worth noting on those cables. When I tuned mine trying to just tighten everything up, I took the slack out of the cables, thinking that would help. Wrong. It actually prevented the latches from fully closing on the strikes. If your cables are tight, that could be a culprit, so put a little slack into them. That may do it. The hex set screw in this pic is where you can adjust it.

I also added a couple of small pieces of polyvinyl tubing cut to fit onto my latch strikes. My strikes were a little worn on this used unit, and I wanted to take out play between the latches and strikes. These work great, and now it shuts with a satisfying thud. I think it would improve a new unit, too. You need to place the zip ties precisely so they don't interfere, and place the seam of of the polyvinyl tubing toward the outboard side.

I got a set of Ikea Dioder LED lights, which run on 12v DC. I rewired them, and put them in my shell. There are 4 strips, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. I ran two power cables and put each set on it's own switch. Everything is mounted with velcro, so they can be moved around pretty easily.

I also threw together a bed divider with some plywood and lumber that I had lying around. I added a couple of coat hooks so that bags can be hung on it as well.

Anyone have a Snugtop Outback? That's what I'm planning on when I get my truck. Obviously I didn't read all 193 pages.

Are they the universal ones? I am looking for some that are almost flat coming off the existing flare. Hate to say it but something like what jeep guys do.

Mine are the no lip style so they bolt to the side of your fender but if you get the style with the lip it should bolt right to the bottom of your existing fender flares. I had to get the no lip style because I pulled my fender flares off
