i was somewhat disapointed in my snugtop as well, it just wasn't what i expected. i had a leer,ARE,on other trucks, i will say the snugtop has better fit and finish. having said that for $3000.00, it should have been alot better.

The thing is.. it is a good quality shell, I was very impressed how well the doors are built and the fit of the shell to the truck but when It comes down to it the little detail put a bad taste for the rest of the good work and design

i here ya man, mine fits the truck really well, the rear door is great. i just had a few chips in paint, that were touched up, and my sliding side windows are stiff as hell. stuff i can deal with in the spring. overall i'm happy with it, it is better than any other brand i've had in the past. i like your cap/truck setup, happy new year!

New problem! This morning on the way to work I opened the shell since it was raining and sure enough there was water in my bed coming from the front corners... you have problems with water seeping in?

My brother in law and I have the same concerns with our Leer caps. for 2500 bucks I was pretty disappointed. having said that, it does what its supposed to (keep water and people out) and ill probably get used to it. im just glad to hear its not just me that's not impressed with the attention to detail.

It seems like people have some to say about their cap no matter if it is a Snugtop, Leer or any of the rest.

I am looking forward to see how much upcoming Ultra Sport will handle.

It is a front runner rack. The feet for the rack are 50mm I believe.

So i had an interesting experience i would like to share with you all..... I got into my truck yesterday afternoon and it would not come out of park. Being that my truck only has 10k miles on it i imidiately called the local dealership to get this taken care of. They ensured me that whatever was wrong would be covered under warranty and thy advised that i use the Toyota Care road side assistance to have my truck towed to their lot so they could repair it. They gave me a rental and everything. So they called me this morning to let me know that they had found the problem but nothing was going to be covered under warranty...... So it turns out that the wire that the camper shell shop had tied into my rear tail light had been rubbing on a metal piece in the tail light cavity. The wire eventually wore through and ended up popping a fuse in my truck. This disabled my tail lights and the brake switch that unlocks the shifter console when the brake pedal is pressed. So figured i would let everyone with a camper shell know of this issue just in case this ever happens to you. Make sure that the wire running from your tail light to your shell is well insulated and away from any sharp edges. That 1 little wire pretty much disabled my truck....... Have a good one!

Ugh. Cap wiring by dealers is often ghetto, low grade, and prone to failure. I'm glad I'll be doing my own on the used Leer I got. I bought the necessary harness and will get to it when I can do a quality job with soldered connection (wherever exposed to elements and quick disconnects not needed), heatshrink, and protective split loom.

It sounds like this sort of failure was what I foresaw and prevented here on my 01 when installing aux backup lights. I used split loom over the sharp sheetmetal edge where the fused hot wire comes up from under the bed and to the light. Another tip: remove any inline spade fuses and dab some dielectric grease on the spades.

Here looking up from the bottom, you can see my new loom for the reverse lights zip tied to the OEM loom. If you look carefully, you can also see the typical half-assed sort of work by cap dealers for the interior dome light: the black hot lead with a blue crimped connector and no protection/loom. The Snugtop was on the truck when I bought it used, and I did not have any problems with the wiring, but YMMV.
