Ha! Yea I m from Santa Fe. How about you? Where about do you live now?

I can give you an idea of exactly how much it will cost among all 5 that I looked at. I didn't bother with Snug-top since its about an hour and a half away if I want one.

Here is the break-down that I posted 3 and a half weeks ago:

"I just spent the past week pricing shells. I found that for nearly all the same amenities, there has been quite the price difference. I don't know about Snugtop because I would have to drive 1.5 hours away to even look at them.
For a second to top of the line shell, which included the side sliding Windows and the frameless curved glass in back, as well as pet screens on the sides, front sliding drop down window, carpet headliner and roof tracks they were priced as follows:

    ARE X series $2502
    Raider Vagabond Elite $2342
    Lakeland (Wisco company) $2260
    Leer XR $2140
    Century Ultra Sport $1929

Those prices include everything including taxes and install.

    Snugtop has ridiculous high prices."

I like it so far but its only been 24 hours. Jerry's was great. Their store is very unorthodox and is messy and just overall weird but Dan was pretty cool and they have shells out in the yard to look at. I liked Century because both Century and Raider are made by Leer (even in the same place) and with $200+ in savings , I thought, Why not? Jerry's was prompt. They told me three weeks and it came within 3 weeks and a day. The guy who installed it was awesome and told me that if I had issues with anything to just give him a call. I definitelty recommend going to Jerry's. Good luck man. Let me know how it works out.

Great to hear the first hand experience. I'll look forward to swinging by Jerry's tomorrow. I'm a visual dude - I like to see stuff in person, even if it's just a sample.

Anyhow, I grew up in the North Valley of Albuquerque, right next to Balloon Fiesta Park. Married a Wisconsin girl and eventually settled in Sun Prairie. Where are you at?

Anyhow, thanks for taking the time to post your shopping experience. It's super helpful, and right in line with what I found at LineX (Leer) and Madison Auto Trim (Ranch).

Stay warm! Looks like somebody remembered it's winter time.

My advice is that if you want the name brand of Leer then go with Line-X otherwise give Centruy a shot for a couple hundred dollar savings.

I too married a Wisconsin girl from Whitefish Bay. We now live on the west side of Madison, one exit before the West Towne Mall, Whitney Way.

    Good talking

Sorry for delay guys ,,it was nice today so we hit up a local gun range for some lead therapy :infantry:
so most of the floor at the front was saturated with water,,all along the entire side of left rail below window and some on right and along sides of bed bed is wet,,i have the bedrug in there so its really easy to tell what is gettin wet and whats not,,the slider part of this window feels like there is no seal around it as its sitting really loose while the right side is tighter,,theres small slots that you can see in pic below,,that will need to be sealed ,,any suggestions ??IMG_3158.jpg
above is frontleft corner,,you can see the slots where the water is coming through ,,the right is same

Scroll through the previous posts- I posted pictures of how to fix this issue in the 2nd gen. I'm guessing it's the exact same for the third gen. You'll need black silicone on the outside of your truck rails.. I'm guessing you could do it from the inside.

    Livinserene,

I just had a Leer 100 XL complete with the BedRug installed on my truck and it looks like mine is leaking in the same places that yours is.

I had it installed at Cap-It in Victoria, where did you get yours done?

I just sent an Email to them, the water just pours in, never had this problem with the two previous trucks and canopies I had (Frontier and Tacoma).

If you don't mind, keep me posted on how you do with stopping the leaks and I'll do the same.

Tacoma caps are prone to leaking at the front cab end corners where the bed sides are higher than the cab end bed " front "

    HI Oz,

Thanks for the info, mine is leaking really bad along the drivers side and not quite as bad along the passenger side and I don't understand why. Funny thing is, the corners seem to be fine.

I think it is an install problem because this is one long flat surface where the canopy and truck bed meet, it does not make sense.

    Cheers

as we westcoasters know the last couple weeks have been monsoon after monsoon lol tough to try and find leaks ,,,will def keep you in the loop guys ,,going back to Hornbys in nanaimo today to trouble shoot some solutions,,i know exactly where your talking aboubt Oz and thats exactly what the installers told me as well,,
    IMG_3158.jpg
the yellow prior to install was completely open to the outside,,installers put some puddy like material in there to close it up,,,you can see in the red the still open slots,,at night you can see flashlight light through there very clearly on both sides ,,thats a big culprit for sure,,,something to look for in yours,,my cap is a century brand and they use the same molds leer does,,so were likely up against the same issues,,do you have windows ? how loose are they ?attaching a video shortly,,and im thinkin thats a big entry point as well,,will let know what happens later today

SIAP, but does anyone have a lift of some sort built in your garage so that you can pull under it, hook up to your shell, and lift it up off of your truck? I'd love to be able to take mine on and off frequently without needing other peoples help.

this seems like a pretty solid idea. the others seem to hook to the bottom rails and hold it that way but I think that would be too much force spreading the sides out. this looks like a low stress way to do it. also it looks idiot proof.

if you don't have the windoors this guy found a decent looking work around. still limits the outward forces on the rails.

Hey man, I really like your topper... I'm looking at one now, do you remember what they called the windows you got? I like that they can pop up and have a screen. I'm assuming that middle window slides?

FWIW: This weatherstripping was added to my LEER 100XL, by the installer/Dealer, during the original installation.
No leaks since 2010/03/10. Cap's been on and off a couple times (each time by the installer).
He said it just weatherproofs the difference in the front bed height.
Not sure it would solve the above problems, but thought I'd try to contribute.

    WATER LEAKS SUCK! :frusty:
Where it leaks out, may not be where it seeps in.
    Good Luck
