Am actually going to be replacing it pretty soon with either a 3 or 4 foot one. It was originally on a mount with the ditch light and worked well. But not as great at this location. Just acting as a place holder at the moment.

Ahh. I found it eccentric and had to ask. Looks great but if SWR readings aren't adequate thats a bummer. I have a 4 foot in the same spot because of that reason.

Yep, going to be getting a 4ft to replace it with. Just got in two rebate cards from Discount and ARB, so will be ordering it today actually.

The biggest reason that your shell won't fit is the tailgate shape and the longer outside dimensions in length.

I've read through this entire thread, yes all 230 pages and buying a canopy from Leer, ARE or Snugtop sounds like a crap shoot, some guys here are really happy with their canopies and some are quite pissed. I guess you have to thoroughly inspect it before driving away. That being said, I'm still deciding on either the Leer XQ, ARE-Z series or a Snugtop xtr gen 2.

I just dropped the Taco at the Leer dealer for install. Before leaving I looked over the cap as best I could as it was sitting on a pallet. Looks really good for now. I will get it back this afternoon and post pics.

    [EDIT]

Jut got a call from the installer. Looks like it may have a bit of damage. Waiting for a call back on a timeline to fix it. I just can't seem to win ...

I finally got it! The damage the dealer told me about was fixed by the end of the day. This thing is flawless, almost. After going through what I did with the Jason Cap dealer, I went over this with a fine tooth comb. The only issue was LEER did not include a switch for the dome light, but that is no big for me as I was already planning on adding more lights to the inside. I have 30 (yes 30 of them), 12 inch LED light strips coming from Amazon, cost me all of $30. I plan on using them for other projects as well, but a good number will be going into the bed.

Hi just wondering if anyone out there with a mid rise shell knows about how much more room you get than with the cab high shell.

@chasecamper - I'm guessing a mid-rise includes the Leer 180, A.R.E. MX and SnugTop Hi-liner. On my Leer 180, I would say that there is at least 4" extra headroom versus my previous cab hi A.R.E shell. It may even be 5" of extra headroom.

2015 Tacoma Access Cab with a Leer 180 below.

I have no idea, but I will advise you to get a mid rise because every time I ever need to carry something in my bed it is always 1-2" too tall. Ha ha. Plus they look badass. More usable space = more room for activities.
