Since my Snugtop is only rated for about 200lbs on the top and I don't feel safe putting a RTT on it. I am trying to decide if I should even get a Prinsu rack for the top of it or just leave it without a rack on it....

    Opinions?

Go check out the RTT thread. Lots of discussion on this. I have a Leer XQ and will be mounting a Prinsu and eventually a smaller RTT. Others have had no issues with this setup. Load rating seem to be based on dynamic (driving), not static loading (your truck parked with tent and you in it is static). Also, with a Prinsu, you can add multiple towers/feet. So rather that 4, do 6, and gain greater weight distribution/reduce PSI stress points on the cap.

I'm in the same boat, snugtop is only rated for 200lbs. Right now my RTT is on my cabrac prinsu and I feel like keeping it on the cab is the most solid option. I still want an Prinsu on the canopy but it would be for other items, like maxtrax, pelican case, storage, etc. Plus when the RTT is off the cab i can use both racks for kayaks.

This is true. So the snugtop can hold 200 pounds, while driving at 75mph, in a storm, going over a mountain pass, in winter ... An RTT will be fine in most cases. Size of occupants may vary.

Get a cabrac and throw an rtt on it. Leave the shell alone.

I found a cap! I'm going to look at it tonight. He's asking $450 because there is a orange stain on the top of it and he doesn't know why. It doesn't bother me because I have to paint it anyway. Seems like a good deal to me. What do you guys think?

    It's an ARE brand too

As long as it is in good shape, the bottom edges aren't all beat up, that is a good deal. I would still try and get it for a better price, the worst he can say is no.

I am definitely going to try and get it cheaper. Especially since it's an hour away from me. I hope it looks as good as the pictures do

I just realized that he pictures are super small on here. On the guys Craigslist ad they are bigger and it looks really good

I would buy it, like you said, your going to paint it so that orange spot wouldn't bother me either. Even if you have to pay asking price it is still a good deal for a ARE.

I would try and get a better deal, tell them you need to buy a front sliding window for it and you'll have to get it painted as well. Paint and a new front window will be aroung $500 and up, depending on where you go.

I've discussed pricing as much as I can at this point and they are firm at $500. I may or may not get it painted (depends on my quote from my paint guy) and I'm not concerned with a front sliding window. For $500 versus $2k+ for a new one, I'm happy.

Good to know on the dynamic / static stuff. Makes sense.

I have a Prinsu Cabrac and may just get the rack for the shell and use it for maxtrax and such like you are planning on and then putting the RTT on the cab.

Already got a Cabrac, so may just go this route.
