@HomerTaco has been running an RTT on a Caprac on an SB Leer XQ for quite some time with no issues, FYI.

I would actually expect the stresses on an LB cap vs an SB cap to be higher, since there is a greater span between the cap's "A" and "B" pillars on an LB cap.

Also keep in mind that when looking through manufacturers web sites for weight capacity, they only list the weight capacity for the cross-bars as either 150-200 pounds or 400 for the "pro version" of the cross bars. They never actually state the limit of the cap, which I would imagine would have to be at least bit higher. It would be far better to have the cross bars fail before the cap. I have yet to be able to find the limit for the actual cap on a manufacture website, though I am still looking.

    A question about canopy removal.
Can a canopy be removed, say twice a year. How hard is that process and does any seal items need to be redone/repurchased each time?

    TIA.

Everyone seems to be concerned about the RTT being too heavy for the cap... The PrInSu rack adds 2 additional fastening points to the cap rails and at this point I really don't even notice it's up there.
Wheel all day like this too...

I bought that cap last night. It is in perfect shape. I couldn't get the guy to.come down any. He said he priced it to sell and he won't sell unless he gets what he is asking it was a fair deal anyway. I'll try to post pictures later

    Hey everyone,

I've been shopping around in BC, Canada and have narrowed my search down to the Leer 100r and the Leer 180. The added headroom could be a deciding factor as I'm looking for utility over aesthetics (even though the 180 is still a great looking shell). I've been given the following quotes:

100r: $2802.24 installed/including tax with free sliding front window (Leer coupon)
180: $3052.00 installed/ including tax with free sliding front window (Leer coupon)

What are your thoughts on these prices? I've been reading some posts that have me thinking these prices are high and that I could find a better price. I've been waiting for a shell for over a year but used ones are few and my need for one is coming up very soon for a big move.

    Thanks!

Even though you had to pay his asking price, $450 was a good deal for ARE. Now get it painted and post some pictures.

Im not sure of pricing in Canada but for $250 more I would get the Leer 180. Down here in the lower 48 finding a used Leer 180 are also few and far between. You will more than likely have to buy a new shell if you want the raised roof because they are so rare to find used. I know this didn't really answer your question maybe some of your other Canadian brothers will drop in here and help you out with pricing in your area.
I've thought about seeing if someone would trade me for my cab high shell for there Leer 180. After I got my shell I started seeing a few raised roof shells and started liking the looks and the added benefits of having more room.

I found this on craigslist. It's a snugtop but not sure of the model. My guess is a rebel. Really adds contrast to the mgm color.

I didn't know what my used snugtop was when I got it either. I called snugtop with the serial number from the plate on the inside and they were able to tell me what model I had as well as what options it originally came with.

Woohoo for Craigslist finds indeed! I picked mine up Wednesday for $450. I'm dropping it off to get painted on Monday.

Think mine was $400 to get painted from silver to black.

Haha that's funny! That looks like the same exact cap as mine too. I have and ARE Z series I believe judging by their website because of the curved rear glass.
