20160802_124755676_iOS.jpg Brand spankin new Ranch Sierra cap. Looks great (photo skills aside), fits great and about $300 less than a Leer or ARE. I'm a happy camper. (literally)

Took my cap off to install roof rack rails, added cleats for cargo mesh and eye hooks for a small cloths hanger for life jackets and snowboard gear. Put on 2 coats of klasse high gloss sealant fallowed with pinnacle wax. When I took it off I noticed fiberglass scratches in the truck paint so I added thin rubber under the edges of the cap as a bumper.20160802_153607.jpg 20160802_153729.jpg 20160802_152923.jpg 20160802_152529.jpg

    Just getting started
Went with a relatively simple setup that suits my needs. Not pictured - I added a verticle support in the middle of the shelf toward the back end.

The cap came with the truck when I bought it. It's an ARE CX and it's absolutely beautiful!

Put an overhead rack on the Tacoma. I've got it set up for travelling with my dog, Rudy. We go camping, hunting, fishing, kayaking, mountain climbing and just wandering the fields. Best travelling companion there is!

I know there is a difference for 2nd gens, but does anyone know if there is a difference in the cab angle between a reg cab and extra cab 1st gen?

Just keep throwin' money at it.

Yes, the single cab is more vertical. The extra cab has an angle towards the front.

I spray the power washer between them and I have a flip down window so I can clean the glass.

Hm, I have a stationary front window on my shell. Just the sliding window on the rear of the cab. Pressure washer doesn't do much as far as actual cleaning though...

The only way to do it is to slide the shell back seeing how you don't have a tilt window on your shell. You have 2 options 1 is to clean it the best you can with what ever works. If you slide the shell back make sure you clean everything really good and do a really you wax job on everything you couldn't reach and 2 is to just live with it.

Yeah thats what I assumed...just didn't know if maybe a long cleaning brush or something existed that fit down between the two. Thanks.

You would have to make your own. I have never seen something made specifically for it.

are standard fiber glass toppers not recommended for roof top tents? i see ARE has the CX HD with the metal reinforcement, advertised with a roof top tent. but makes me wonder if just a average sized roof top tent is too much for something like the Z or X series. I can't right any weight limits on their site.
