Youre probably right. But the overland's base price was $100 less then the x series and theyre basically the aame shell except the O has linex and carpet interior is an add while the x carpet is standard.

I would have liked to find a used one but i couldnt find one that fit my needs/ wants. If i could id have to spend just as much to make it as good as the new one i bought new. And new has a warranty.

I bought a used century with Yakima tracks and cross bars already installed, tilt front slider, and a Windoor installed on the drivers side. It did not have a carpeted roof for $600 and then another $300 to have it painted. I am happy with the options I got for the price I paid.

Just keep throwin' money at it.
Same. I need to paint mine, but its a Leer with tilt down front window, Yakima tracks, pet screens, dual locks, and no carpet. I think for a used one you have to settle a little or wait for the perfect one. MGM shotbed canopies that are priced right in the Seattle area sell in under 24hours so you have to be quick around here and look all the time. Offerupnow.com seems to have more come up in my area than on Craigslist

When I was looking for a shell all I could find were for short beds and the long beds were way over priced ($1500) for used ones without any options. If it was the right colr and had some options $1500 wouldn't have been that bad of a deal. It took me 6 months to find what I got. When buying a used shell you just have to remember to add $300-$500 to the asking price for color matching if you want it to match.

Just picked up a older Century Cap off Kijiji for $200. Didn't think I was a cap guy but quickly seeing the potential and usefulness. Color matched and from same year as my truck so it's faded and scratched to match perfectly. Two locking storage boxes accessed from sides that also reinforce the roof. Looking forward to a frontrunner rack and my RTT up top.

You pretty much stole that. You better be looking over your shoulder because the police are going to be looking for you.

Ripped it off when the hinges got too rusty to close.

Snug Top with reinforced roof for RTT. Sliding screen windows for the dog that also flip open to reach gear in the front of the shell.

Sleeping platform inside for extra people or organizing gear. Works great for throwing surf boards under the platform. Keeps them from getting damaged. The platform stacks up to the back if I need the extra room. I will be turning it into a drawer system soon.

    Happy Friday!

Figured I'd throw mine up here. ARE CX, Dual sliding windoors, front slider. No carpet, looking to paint the inside with latex paint (whatever's cheap and light-colored at Home Despot), then hang insulation and/or curtains off of glue-on Velcro patches. Going to throw a foam mattress on the bottom, then looking at building a cabinet setup in the front ~1/3 that I can access from both the bed and the windoors.

Does anyone know if an ATC 2013 LB cap fit a 2010 LB?

The long bed is the same from 2005-15 so if it's for a Tacoma long bed or access cab then your good.

What's the most aesthetically pleasing, nicest looking, cap for the DCSB?

I saw a Barcelona red, really clean gen 2 DCSB today with what I think was the Leer 180, with a Thule kit, and with the Toyota roof rack. It looked really sharp. I'm guessing that's one of the nicer looking caps as well as the snug top xtr.

And I "saw the light" in terms of a truck cap...my family has had to take some longer trips with our new baby and the dogs in the RAV4 and it's been very tight, and it's simply still not possible in the Tacoma with out risking getting the bed contents wet or weathered. Anyway I believe a cap on the Tacoma would achieve the extra cargo capacity I need without trading my 2011 Tacoma I really like for a 5th gen 4Runner which really doesn't yield much extra capacity.

You need to decide if you want a cab high or the raised roof like the leer 180 you saw. Snug top shells arent readily available on the south east coast, you can find them but they are few and far between.
What is the most aesthetically pleasing? It all comes down to what you like and how much you want to spend. If you ask 10 people you will probably get 10 different answers. The options that everyone agrees to are a sliding front window and windoors for the sides. Seeing how you have a dog you will want windoors with a sliding window. I hope this helps.

IMO the Leer 100r/rcc/xr are the nicest looking caps on these trucks. I feel they just complement the body lines nicely and look great. Also the century line which is made by Leer but under a different name. I may be picking up a Century Ultra tomorrow, which is the same as a Leer 100r. Again this is my opinion so take it as you will.

@DC-USAF is right Snug Tops are not available on the east coast. In my opinion A.R.E Z or X series is the nicest top out there. The paint match perfectly and hold up nicely. My Z series looks perfect on the truck. To me the window look like the cab Windows, so thing match great. At the end of the day though it's all personal preference.
