Dennis, first let me say welcome to TacomaWorld. Now, to really seal it, I removed the plastic bedside caps and added multiple rows of "bulb seal" to help make a water and dust proof barrier. You can also consider some "helicopter tape" to protect the tailgate paint where the rear window rubber wipe will rub against your paint. I used a strip all the way across my tailgate but wish I had also added a couple of inches to the left and right rear bed sides as the wipe on mine is a bit wider than the wind and does seem to walk around a bit.

Post some pictures when you get it on.

I used black duct tape for the small holes. Then I cut some door/window sill adhesive that I found at Lowes and placed into the holes in the cubbies on the sides of the bed liner to keep the dust out of them as well. Lastly, I bought and installed a tailgate seal (Ultimate Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal 10ft) for the tailgate. I documented this over on my website.

Thank you G.T., Great advice. Im gonna look for the products you mentioned.

My concern is water and dust getting under the plastic covers/caps, that runs the entire length of the side of the bed and/or under the shell.
The Leer Dealer told me they will add a foam sealer where the shell sits on the bed, but is it good enough? What about other possibilities where water/dust can get in? Somewhere like behind the truck rear window?

Also I saw a post from sorgon82 (page 255) about sealing the bed, great pics by the way. I think Im doing the same thing.

I think doing what he recommended would certainly help. Dealers use foam tape for one reason. It's cheap. Once it dries up it leaks everything but it's irrelevant to them as it's your problem by then. I mounted my FlipPac - which had an irregular shape - with the plastic bed caps removed and used the bulb seal I mentioned earlier. Some use a butyl rubber but I think it performs the same for more expense than the bulb seal does. I'd consider using the butyl rubber around the side cargo boxes.

Just got lucky enough to pick up a ARE CX topper for free! Only catch is it did not come with mounting brackets and has a broken sliding rear window. Anyone know a place I can find the proper hardware that can be shipped?
