Over GVWR and I keep adding more metal
I've got the OME (lightest front coils since it's a 4 cyl)/Dakars+extra-leaf (rear shell and sleeping platform and bumper) on my 1999 Taco. About 2 inches of lift... seemed like a bit more since my 200,000 mile springs were sagging

Also have the OME on my 2007 (medium on the front, standard OME rear leaf pack). It has a shell with no extra weight.

Both ride just fine. If you have a 3rd Gen, you'll likely get 2 inches of lift.

I just ordered an on board air kit for train horns. I think I'm going to add rear air bags with that setup for this reason.

Also if one were on a budget, wouldn't air shocks work? I've used them back in the day and they worked for this reason

Maaco will paint your cap for about $300. I decided to cut my wires and install a 6-wire plug to make things easier to disconnect.

Ive got the stock suspension with a shell with no problems. What you put inside the shell for every day use along with the weight of the shell you might use a helper spring. If your planning on lifting your truck in the future the new leaf springs would probably be the best thing to do.

With as crappy as the stock leafs are, eventually you'll need something for more support. When I put the cap on my short bed I could immediately tell it was on there by a softer rear end feeling. It isn't bad but notable, kinda rides better over stutter bumps and such. Now after having it on for almost a year I no longer have a factory rake. I put 200lbs of gravel in my truck once and it was squatting pretty good and made me nose high.

I thought about trying air shocks for the longest time but I'm adding onboard air today and I'll just get Ride Rite air bags for the rear now.

I use the ProComp add-a-leaf and did the install myself. Took about 4 hours, which isn't bad considering I had never done anything like that. After an alignment check the truck sat 2" higher in the back and after the shell still sits 2" inches higher and I have noticed a major improvement in ride quality. The back wheels don't hop anymore, the ride is much smoother and the whole truck seems more planted. Honestly one of the best upgrades I have done so far. Cargo capacity is also much improved as it doesn't squat near as easy as it used to.
