Thank you for that information. I was hoping it would be a little higher. Do you know if the ARE MX cap is a little higher? Thank you for the quick response. Jim

Hi BennyB, I see you have the ARE MX on a Tacoma Access cab long bed. Do you know the height from the bed to the ceiling of the cap? I am looking for the highest cap I can get for my Tacoma.
    Thank you. Jim

Leer 122 is, IIRC, higher than the MX. I think the ARE high cap is the TW.

Thank you, but the Leer 122 is not available for the 2017 Tacoma, which means the Century T class is not available either, since they are the same shell. So I am limited to the Leer 180 or the ARE MX series or the SnugTop Hi Liner. I am trying to find the one that is a bit higher. There is also another cap which is called the ProTop 100. They are in the process of making a mold for the Tacoma as I write this. They are not sure how high it will be until it is complete. The company that makes that is in California. They are sold in California and Arizona. No dealers besides that. I may have to drive there to get one of those. Would rather go with a cap that is sold in the Midwest if possible in case I would need to take it back for some reason for repair or flaws. From all of my research I think the ARE MX is slightly higher than the Leer 180 and the SnugTop Hi Liner. Have not been to get an exact confirmation on this. The dealers don't have that information and I am getting conflicting information from the companies and dealers. I feel my best source would be people that actually have a cap on the Tacoma 2016 or 2017 (3rd generation) I have written all the companies about listing the specs on their hi rise caps as others have run into this same problem. If a person is going to spend $2000.00 - $3000.00 on a cap they may as well find out what is the best option. I want to do my research before I purchase. Hopefully this will help others that may be looking for a cap now or in the future. As far as I understand Leer, which includes Century are not planning on making a new mold for the 3rd generation Tacoma's. At least that is the information I am getting. I have written the corporate office about that and still have not gotten a final response. I know this is a long answer, but I have been doing my homework on this. I hope this helps others. Thank you all for your responses that you have given me. Jim

    Hey Jim!
I don't have a tape measure with me as I'm doing some training in virginia and don't have everything here but I found this in another thread. Below is the quote and the link to the thread if you want to see it yourself. I also have a carpeted lining so this would apply to mine as well and this is for the ARE MX

"OK, here's what I came up with:
From the bottom of the bed to the top at the opening - 38"
From the bottom of the bed to the top of the shell - 42"
The shell curls down slightly toward the edges, seems like 1/2" - 3/4" drop from the middle to the edges. I've got a carpeted line in my shell so there might be a slight gain from the carpet and there feels like some padding but not much.
FWIW, if you use the ridges in the bed of the truck to make a platform and then a 3/4" platform, the platform is 10 3/4" from the bottom of the bed (just in case you were looking to build a sleeping platform)."

Yes I have checked the TW out by ARE. The problem with the TW is that it is a wedge. It does not have a flat top, it slopes up to the back. It would be a problem putting a roof rack on and transporting things on top. I would like a rack that is higher for most of the bed length. Thank you.

Hi Ben, I actually came up with that same posting before. I think if I remember correctly that may have been on a generation 2 Tacoma, not sure though. I am hoping someone has this cap on a 2016 Tacoma. That will give me an accurate read on this. I think this is the highest one of the Leer and SnugTop though. Every inch in this case matters. I definitely would have gone with the Leer 122 if it was an option.
    Thanks again. Jim

Anyone out there have a Leer 100XL with the windoors on it? I have the wind out vent windows but I'm looking to get atleast the passenger side windoor for it. The Leer dealer I talked to today said that I would probably have to reconstruct the cap side and window opening because he thinks the glass and frames are different angles. Can someone post pictures of a Leer 100XL with the windoors open and shut from both inside and outside of the cap if possible. Thanks in advance. Here's mine for glass shape reference. 20170312_124251.jpg
