I've had my ARE MX for a few months now and love it. I have a short (5ft) bed. FYI: I can fit my 19" (L) 29er mtn bike mounted in the bed on a fork mount in a 2x4 with the tailgate closed (for any curious mtn bikers). It wasn't an option to get sliding windoors for that short of a bed, so I got a windoor on the drivers side for easy access and a half slider on the other side so the dog could hang his head out the window. My wife made custom screens to go over all the windows and a big mosquito net that fits over the open hatch and tailgate if it's open while camping in the back. Yup, she's awesome.:D

Does anyone know what adapters I need to mount my thule racks on the shell? I don't want the runner strip things. Any pics would be awesome as well.

I watched Craigslist for about 4-5 months to find a color matched fiberglass shell and it paid off. Got mine for $700 and it had been sitting in storage shed for 3 out of 4 years. I think it's the Leer 100R. Works great, love the sliding side windows for extra ventilation for sleeping and dog. Built a sleeping platform and love it - perfect for me, wife and dog.

Just picked it up today, found it on CL. It will get me by until I decide if I want a full shell or not.

    Hey Rob,
www.cowtownsleepers.com is the only place I know of that makes them, and I don't really even know if this is one of their models or not, it's about 10 years old. I priced one from them this week, and it would have been about $1200 incl. shipping from TX.

Just last week I had someone photoshop a standard topper for me, so I could have an idea of what it would look like. I had never really hoped to actually FIND one on CL, let alone one that would fit my truck. I was just looking for other toppers when lo and behold, I saw this one.

for another 1k added to that price, I would go SnugTop. Hell, my XTR cost me quite a bit but it is da shizzle.

Yeah, $1200 for this top (new) was totally out of the question. I would have bought a new aluminum top for $850 before paying that much for a 1/2 shell. Maybe I'll get a nice full topper at some point.

NICE CL score, Zach!!! Love those side-opening windows like that. If I ever get a full size shell, I've got to have side windows like that.

And +1 on those snugtop roof bags (?) GuapOH, what exactly are those?

These are Snugtop's overhead storage cubbies. The Snugtop Dealer I purchased my cap from, Campways in Sacramento, had a full line of these type of accessories. I think there were at least 4 different sizes. These can be added to an existing cap so long as the roof is thick enough to allow for the 8 screws which hold each one to the cap roof. Each of these are perfect for things like handguns, maglite, knives, books, maps, ipad's etc. I'll have to take some more pics, but each has a large fold down door (the flap which reads Snugtop) folds down and the floor of each storage cubbie is a solid piece of plastic just as is the roof piece although the roof piece is sewed into the cordura fabric which makes up the body of the cubbies
